This sphinx is situated in the garden of Belvedere Palace in Vienna. Unlike the Egiptian sphinx, the Greek ones have a female face, a lion body, eagle's wings on their back and a serpent's tail. In the Greek mythology the sphinx is seen as a powerful monster sent by the Gods to punish people on earth. The ones who were not able to solve the Sphinx' riddle, would be devoured.

Another museum scan, modify slightly, I enlarged the base and hollowed it out. The original sculpture is presented on the mantelpiece of the Queen's chamber at The Chateau of Versailles. Marie-Antoinette knew how to surround herself with the most talented artists of the time, such as Félix Lecomte who made her bust in Carrara marble in 1783.

Here's another museum scan. this one I had to modify a bit because the base was a bit too small to balance easily at a lighter weight. This head is a cast from a marble bust by Battista Lorenzi, created to adorn Michelangelo's grave in Santa Croce, Florence. Lorenzi's portrait is a rework after a bronze bust by Daniele da Volterra where minor features (position of the eyes, head and clothing) were modified.

I've been combing through Museum 3d scans and setting them up to print and paint. This full-figure statue of Bacchus, the wine god, highlights Erik Gustaf Göthe's talent in neoclassical sculptural style. After completing training at the Academy of Arts in 1803 he traveled to Italy and studied under Antonio Canova.

This is an updated version of the eyes wide shut mask I sculpted a while back. I made a few tweaks to the design and it printed nice and clean.

Another popular mask in Venice, often called the Bauta. Sometimes this mask is depicted with a tricornered hat. I may sculpt a variation of this one with a hat or as a separate piece that attaches.

On a recent trip to Venice I was able to see tons of different masks available in the local shops. It was really inspiring and made me want to sculpt and print a few on my own. This one is based on the Red Cloak Mask from Eyes Wide Shut.

Now that Izzie is a bit older her full coat has come in, and it was time for an update, from when i sculpted her as a puppy.
