Welcome to London’s "Healthy" Eats 🟩
#LondonsHealthyEats

🥗 They call themselves "Healthy"… but are they actually good?

A new series exploring London restaurants and cafés with a genuine health, wellness, nutrition or whole-food focus. To qualify, they need to actually put that at the heart of what they do and have somewhere to sit down and eat. So just being vegan, having a salad on the menu or looking healthy doesn’t automatically make the cut.

If you’ve been following my AYCE London Under £20 series, this is basically the other side of the coin 😂

After months of hunting down all-you-can-eat deals, I thought it was time to restore some balance.

[Self Paid]
First up episode 1 - @hg.london HG SOHO, known as Honest Greens outside the UK.

Born from Mediterranean flavours and open-fire cooking, HG brings that fast-casual approach to London, using British produce and sourcing locally where possible.

Their whole philosophy is "Real Food". Fresh ingredients, no ultra-processing, no preservatives and food thats meant to make healthy eating feel easy and exciting.

My overall impression? The food was fresh, full of flavour and genuinely satisfying. It didnt feel like I was making a compromise just because I was trying to eat well. Portions were generous, the quality was good and I really liked the relaxed, communal feel of the place.

At around £25pp, it isn't the cheapest lunch in London, but I thought the quality and overall experience made it feel pretty reasonable.

So does HG Soho actually make healthy eating exciting? I would say yes.

This is only the beginning. What London restaurant or café should I try next? 👇

Welcome to AYCE London Under £20 🟨
#AYCELondonUnder20

Not £40, not £30, must be under £20.

With London prices these days during the current economic downturn. £20 💷 barely gets you a main course in some restaurants. So I thought I would start a new series to see what kind of all-you-can-eat meals you can still get for the same money.

Episode 1 - First up is @yamibuffet.london in New Malden.

At £18.99 for weekday lunch, you get Korean BBQ 🔥, freshly made sushi 🍣 and a selection of Korean hot dishes 🇰🇷. Ordering is simple too – just use the tablet 📱 and keep adding dishes whenever you're ready for the next round.

The BBQ selection is fairly straightforward but there's no beef included at this price point The king prawns 🦐🦐 were amazing and the sushi was much better than I expected for an AYCE.

For under £20, I honestly think this is the kind of place most people would happily come back to.

Not a bad way to kick off the series. 👍

[PR|INVITE] Some of my favourite restaurant discoveries are the ones I least expect.

Hidden above @thealbertarms.se1 The Albert Arms in Elephant & Castle 🐘🏰, @saawaros.london meaning passion fruit in Thai 🇹🇭 is the sort of place you'd probably walk straight past if you didn't know it was there. Small dining room, no big fanfare, just a chef quietly putting out some seriously good Thai food.

The XL wings 🐔 alone are worth coming, but what really stood out was hearing the stories behind the dishes and the thought that had gone into creating the menu.

Definitely one I'll be keeping an eye on.

[PR|INVITE] A new @bubala_london has landed in @coventgardenldn , and this one's their biggest London restaurant yet! 🌿

Set inside a Grade II-listed building dating back to 1860, the new space has plenty of character, with a cosy dining room and an open kitchen where you can catch the chefs in action.

We went for the Bubala Knows Best sharing menu (£39pp), which takes you through a selection of their Middle Eastern-inspired, vegetable-led dishes.

The bread and dips were a great start particularly the hummus with burnt butter and labneh with confit garlic and za'atar.

But the standout for me was the oyster mushroom skewers. Beautifully charred, smoky, juicy and surprisingly meaty. A dish I would happily order again!

The rest of the menu was just as enjoyable, making this a lovely spot for a relaxed meal with friends.

[PR|INVITE] When a regular egg tart just isn't big enough… 🥚🥧

Meet the 60cm extra-long egg tart at @masterbunpastry ! Definitely not your everyday bakery treat, and one that's made to grab everyone's attention.

But there's plenty more to explore beyond this oversized creation. From their crispy seaweed buns and fluffy Chinese-style pastries to taro-filled treats and cream puffs, there's a good mix of sweet and savoury bites.

A little something different for your next pastry run.

Episode 18 - Unlimited Kottu Roti for £15.99 🇱🇰🌶️ #AYCELondonUnder20

[Self Paid]

A Sri Lankan street-food favourite, with unlimited servings for under £16 every Wednesday? 👀

@kamuu.tooting is located inside @bwmarkettooting in Tooting, serving up four versions of kottu roti.

The mutton was the highlight for me, especially paired with their house gravy. The seafood had potential, but the shell-on prawns made it a little awkward to eat, and the chicken could have been juicier.

An interesting option if you're a fan of Sri Lankan food and want to try something different.

[PR|INVITE] Most authentic K-BBQ has just landed on Brick Lane 🇰🇷🔥

@majangdong.london 마장동 inspired by Seoul's famous Majang Meat Market, has opened its second London location at 90 Brick Lane, bringing authentic Korean BBQ, quality meats and a generous spread of Korean sides to East London.

We tried their Korean BBQ set, featuring a selection of meats including rib eye, rib fingers, pork belly and marinated galbi, alongside classic Korean sides and extras.

🥩 The pork belly and galbi were my personal highlights. There's something about grilling the meat at the table, then wrapping it in lettuce with rice, sauces and banchan, that makes Korean BBQ such a great meal to share.

🎉 SOFT LAUNCH OFFER: 50% OFF FOOD

📅 26 October – 8 November 2026
📍 Brick Lane branch only

[PR|INVITE] Think Chinese food is all about the familiar dishes? There’s a whole world of regional specialities to explore. 🇨🇳🥢

At @chuanyoung.uk , we tried dishes spanning Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai, with three regional highlights in particular:

🥢 大煮乾絲 — Huaiyang shredded dried tofu in savoury broth. Delicate, comforting and one of my favourites.

🥩 東坡肉 — Hangzhou-style Dongpo pork belly, with those beautiful layers of fat and meat in a rich, glossy sauce.

🦆 南京鹽水鴨 — Nanjing salted duck, a more delicate, savoury take on duck compared with the roast duck we're used to.

We also had 揚州炒飯, 生煎包 and 小籠包. The buns had flavourful fillings, although I would've liked a little more juice inside.

A good way to explore the variety of Eastern Chinese food, beyond the dishes we see most often.

Episode 17 - Chinatown Chinese Buffet: 3.7🌟 for £16? 🟨🍜 #AYCELondonUnder20

[Self Paid]

I went looking for Chinatown's lowest-rated Chinese buffet, Kowloon Restaurant with a 2.6🌟 on Google, but after being turned away at 7pm, I ended up at the other end of the Google ratings scale: JJ Buffet.

With around 30 - 40 dishes for £16, there's plenty of choice and food is constantly replenished. The braised beef brisket, prawns and ribs were my standouts as are more unusual buffet options like Sichuan peppercorn chicken 👍 , although a few dishes were let down by dryness or flavour the squid really didn't taste right 🥴 . One thing impressed me is the lack of heavily salted/MSG food as I wasn't really thirsty after.

Nothing exceptional, but mostly decent food, good variety and a clean comfortable setting for the price (hygiene rating 5 too 👍) . I'd say the 3.7-star rating is about right.

💰 From £16 per person Mon - Thurs, £18.50 Fri - Sun

[PR|INVITE] Where sleeping on the job is perfectly acceptable. 😴🐈

@javawhiskersuk isn't just a cat café. It's a rescue cat café that gives cats and kittens a safe, comfortable place to stay while they wait to find their forever homes.

You can spend time getting to know them in the Cat Lounge or Kitten Lounge, watch them play, or simply enjoy some company from these furry little residents. And if one happens to steal your heart, you can enquire about adopting them and giving them a loving home. 🏡❤️

Of course, there's a café too, serving coffee, light lunches and cakes, so you can settle in for a little cat time while enjoying something to eat.

A cute break from shopping with a purpose beyond the cuddles.

[PR|INVITE] 4-Course Peking duck set menu for just £20 per person in central London? 🦆

@dragoninn_club 🐉 has a new set menu where you get the duck in two ways, plus tomato and egg stir-fry and garlic green beans.

I really liked the lettuce wraps🥬. The filling was fragrant and full of duck flavour, and the crispy skin with pancakes was a nice first course too. The meat could have been a little juicier, but for the price, it's hard to complain.

One tip: make it three ways, add £8 to turn the duck bones into duck tour and cabbage soup 🍲. I would say it's worth doing rather than letting them go to waste, and you get so much duck flavour in the soup too.

Since Dragon Inn Club is also known for Sichuan cooking, we tried the Sichuan grilled sea bass pot 🐟 and boiled beef in chilli and peppercorn soup 🌶️🌶️. The fish pot was a real highlight, and both dishes packed plenty of flavour.

📍 16-18 Upper Tachbrook St, Pimlico, London SW1V 1SH

Would you go for the Peking duck set or the Sichuan dishes?
