🎸 THE RIG

GUITAR
Gibson Custom Shop 1961 Les Paul SG Standard Reissue, VOS. Righty body converted and restrung lefty. Custom strings close to Jimi’s reported gauges but heavier on the low E and A — the SG’s 24.75” scale is shorter than a Strat’s 25.5”, so tension drops. Thicker kills the buzz and keeps the feel right.

PEDALS
1967 Thomas Organ Cry Baby, Halo inductor
Italian JEN/Thomas Organ, serial I1899. Early Clyde McCoy-derived circuit, passive, ICAR 100k sweep pot, brown Italian PCB, Ducati caps, original wiring. No LED, no buffer, battery only. Second jack modded to bypass the wah for volume pedal use. The Halo is the big one — that classic early Vox wah voice.

Arbiter England Fuzz Face, 1966 spec
Vintage-spec repro, period-correct NOS parts. PNP germanium AC128, true bypass, battery only. Q1 ≈ 72 hFE, Q2 ≈ 134 hFE — low-gain into higher-gain, the sweet spot. Very low input impedance, so it cleans right up off the guitar volume.

Sabbadius Uni-Vibe 1968 RS w/ foot controller
NOS RS 1968 components, four-stage photocell modulation, lamp-driven phase. Chewy and three-dimensional, not a digital fake.

AMP
Marshall 1959 Hand Wired 100W Super Lead, late-‘60s Plexi spec
All-valve, non-master, 2 bridgeable channels, 4 inputs. 2x ECC83 + 1x ECC83 phase splitter, 4x EL34. Serviced by @essexamprepair — values measured, tone stack fine-tuned, dialled in with the pedal chain in place (tested, not modded). The Fuzz Face was built alongside the amp work. Matched pair, hand in glove.

CABS 🔈🔊
Hendrix stack: 1960AHW + 1960BHW hand-wired 4x12s, Celestion G12H 30W 55Hz bass cones, Made in England. Thick lows, thumping mids, sweet top that never gets brittle — the fuzz sits wide and colourful instead of mushy.

Punk stack: 1960A + 1960B Lead 4x12s, G12T-75s. Big Ramones fan. Tighter, brighter, scooped. All attack, no flab.
