John Baloy, Feel the sincerity of the intention to evoke emotion. Part of Rituals of Time at @load.gallery

@john.baloy is a Johannesburg-based photographer and visual artist whose practice centres on the lived experiences of Black people, approached through a surreal, Afrocentric visual language.

In “Feel the sincerity of the intention to evoke emotion”, Baloy explores protection, power, and inner knowing. Through colour, gesture, and stillness, the series invites reflection on the body as a space where memory, identity, and ancestral knowledge are carried across generations.
Music by Jordan Clem.

Rituals of Time is on view until 16 January 2027.
To receive the exhibition catalogue, please send a DM to @load.gallery taken in Load Gallery Barcelona by @john.baloy

I am excited to share that I am officially a @vsco ambassador! Being a photographer who has an alternative view of image portrayal @vsco has helped me develop my own unique approach to colour grading through using their many presets that they offer, everything I share has been edited on VSCO and I am so excited to share more of my journey so stay tuned!

I also have one of the coolest presets on VSCO (WE2) so do check that out!
