DAIRYLAND has received $5,000 in development support from The A. Lindsay & Olive B. O’Connor Foundation.

Once home to 1,400 dairy farms, Delaware County today has only two or so dozen remaining.

While working as Postmaster in Meridale, ICAI Co-Director Emily Marie Harris heard close-up stories from farmers, family members and others about the epic Meridale Dairy Farm—once America’s largest—and the rich culture surrounding regional dairy farming.

ICAI is convening a series of community meetings to discover how the system collapsed—and what might be built with what remains.

Perhaps the question is not only what disappeared, but what can be done with what remains.

DAIRYLAND, a film and exhibition, grows from conversations among the people and organizations who shape this landscape: farmers and families, environmentalists, watershed organizations, economists, dairy processors, local businesses and nonprofits, government organizations, politicians, philanthropists, educators, entrepreneurs and newcomers.

The practices were transmitted to John Halpern over many decades through HH Dudjom Rinpoche’s son and Dharma heir, HH Shenphen Dawa Rinpoche, in the later half of the 20th and early 21st Centuries.

We offer as well, the Shiné Workbook as support, good for new and seasoned practitioners of all contemplative traditions.
