Seattle was filled with many pretty views but more than anything an opportunity to reflect on the goodness of our God revealed in his creation. It provided the opportunity to truly recognize those around me who may struggle with addiction not as lesser or broken but children who our Lord Jesus Christ died for personally and intentionally just as he did for me in spite of my past, and through my continued brokenness.

The Lord reaches out for every one of us, and to receive this grace through the sacraments particularly of confession and the Eucharist put into perspective the importance of my short life and what I may do with it.

“As they came near the village to which they were going, he walked ahead as if he were going on. But they urged him strongly, saying, “Stay with us, because it is almost evening and the day is now nearly over.” So he went in to stay with them. Spending this last week in Colorado left me with a lot of time to pray and reflect on what I’m putting my hope in and appreciation for the beauty of Gods creation. In years past I’ve spent so much time worrying and putting my hope in insignificant things of this world such as money, school, and other people but one of the greatest things I’ve been able to realize is that ultimately I can put all my hope in Christ. With Jesus I know that all my needs will be met and I’ve come to understand that in Gods eyes it is much better to be spiritually rich than rich in this world. No person, place, or artificial fruit of the spirit of this world can fill my heart like Jesus Christ can.

In Revelation 21:4 it says “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away”.

I truly can cling to this truth, God will make all things new. Romans 8:18 says ““I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.” We know that the sufferings of this world are worth it, we will suffer in Christ like He suffered for us but he will make everything new!! Christ’s word is true and I now put all my hope in Him trusting in His sacrifice!! He knew on the cross all of our past, present, and future sin and still chose to endure it because He felt we were worth it. No matter where I’ve been at, how I was living, despite my sin, God wanted and wants a relationship with me and He wants one with you too.

Yesterday afternoon I had to say goodbye to one of the best dogs a man could ever ask for, she’s been in my life since I was about 7 years old and it is one of the hardest goodbyes I will ever have to say. I’ll miss you everyday Ella. by @john.hendrickson95
