Things to do in Japan: November Edition Autumn Season Part 2 | I really love this place. This is Sagamiko Illumilion, every year they light this place up with 6 million LED lights and its the most magical thing ever. If youre running out of things to do in Japan, this is a must do activity. You can also go as a day trip or sunset time and wait till night for these installations.

Enjoy this amusement park filled with delicious food, scenic chairlift up the mountain, souvenir snacks, multiple rides, and numerous light displays.

Getting there from Tokyo takes only about an 1 hr 30 mins. If you want an alternative from the bustling city of Tokyo, this place is a must add night activity to your itinerary. The event starts from November 16th up until May 11th 2025 next year 🥰. It is located in Sagamihara, Japan.

Hi if you’re new here, nice to meet you. My name is Johna Charice aka Chaz. ✨ I absolutely love being in nature 🍃, hiking 🥾, and solo travelling ✈️ around the world 🌎 . I make travel and inspirational content for fun, in hopes that it will inspire you to go and seek your own adventure every single day.

Not just any ordinary adventure. But, the kind that wakes you up, by that, I mean the ones that truly wake you, where in the morning it’s not just your eyes that open but your soul too.

So go on those adventures. Take yourself in places outside of the familiarity, even if it’s a walk down the street to a place you’ve never visited, a train station ride or a drive to a town you’ve never been, a new cafe from the usual, a different route home or somewhere else on the other side of the world.

And at the end of each new adventure that you take..watch, how each new place, no matter how foreign or far - can teach you more about yourself and this beautiful world we live in 🗺️📍 girl under flowers, cottagecore, aesthetic girl, taken in Pinterest by @johnacharice

Things to do in Tokyo: November Edition Part 1 | I went on a solo trip to Japan last year towards the end of November and stayed in Tokyo. After cherry blossom season, the next best time to visit Japan in my opinion is AUTUMN in November. 🍂🍁✨ you get to see both autumn leaves and winter installations at the same time, thats a win win! This is Roppongi Hills Winter Illumination, this was filled with photographers and tourists every night. Add this to your things to do in Tokyo list if you’re visiting around November to December. This installation starts from Nov-Dec every year. 👀🇯🇵🥰

Decided to play tourist in my own city and booked a cruise with @gowhalewatching 🐳 on their 3pm, 3-hour cruise and watched whales during sunset. Learnt lots of fun facts about whales and they’re such beautiful creatures. To top it off, a pod of dolphins decided to join us and swim alongside the boat, multiple times 🥹.

Sometimes I forget how many fun winter activities there are to do in Sydney just like this one. But the good thing is Sydney’s whale watching season typically runs from May to November so you have plenty of time to plan and book a cruise. I timed mine to fall around sunset so go with whichever time suits you best. 😊

I’m such a sucker for stationery 📎✏️😭. I bought so much stickers, washi tape, stamps, pens, notebooks, cards and random things I found cute oops. 🙂‍↕️ lots of cat themed and sakura themed items lol. Took most of my yen expenses haha.

I visited more stationery stores, not featured here because I was zooming through shop to shop and the queue was long. I recommend going Itoya, Hands, Traveler’s Company, and Loft because they have a variety of other things too, not just stationery. I got to do my souvenir shopping at the same time so it worked out haha. Please recommend me any more stationery stores too please! 🥹💕

Attended the 40th Shirakawago Light Up Event, which happens annually and I loved it so much. Seized the opportunity to visit my cousin, after she had called Gifu Prefecture home for many years so I ended up here. 😅

Here’s some tips for your future trip:

🩵 Book months in advance early! We actually booked a tour from a Japanese website called Meitetsu Kanko Bus and we departed from Nagoya station. The observation deck was sold out by the time we booked. However, we could still enter the village through the tour.

Note that you cannot enter here in the evening during the winter light up without booking a reserved evening bus tour, or purchasing a parking pass (if you’re confident to drive in snow chains). Even those who came here during the day, couldn’t stay till the night. It’s a ticketed, crowd controlled event.

🩵 Go try Hida beef. Its sooooooo good. It’s premium Japanese wagyu form the Gifu prefecture. Stay the night at a nearby town or do a day trip if you’re limited on time. We actually ate so much Hida beef that day, in all forms and varieties. LOL. Hotpot, grilled, in soup, in hoba miso, you name it.

Everytime people ask me the highlight of my trip, I always say the beef. I’m not kidding. I still think about it till this day.

🩵 Wear extra warm appropriate clothing and bring microspikes or crampons. In a place surrounded by mountains, the temperature definitely gets way cooler at night. On that day it randomly snowed heavily at 6pm. My cousin and I were freezing but I had extra gloves, hat and a scarf in my bag. 🧢🧣🧤

Some parts were also very slippery and some people tripped. Some parts of the village were also not well lit and there are uncovered water canals that you can accidentally fall into. There were times we were walking in complete darkness 😅.

I’d say it’s totally worth it. I’d come back to see the view from the observation deck. The traditional gassho-zukuri farmhouses are so beautiful in real life especially with the lights and the snow. I honestly felt like I was inside a snow globe ❄️❄️. Save this for your upcoming winter trip ✨❄️

went home to the motherland ✈️🙂‍↔️ and swam everyday at sunset in the calmest waters.

took the longer boat ride from my dad’s hometown Mindoro to Caticlan instead of flying from the main city and it felt like a full circle moment because I grew up having my dad take me on so many trips to the islands. 🏝️

Lots of childhood pics of me crying on all kinds of public transportation lol esp the boat. 🚤 taken in Boracay Island by @johnacharice

always a pinch me moment 😭 This street is a 5 min walk from Shibuya station. The light up starts from 6-9pm, actually started from March 27 and it ends in April 3.

location:📍 1-1 Sakuragaokacho, Shibuya

If you still can’t find the street, google “FamilyMart Shibuya Sakuragaoka-cho ファミリーマート 渋谷桜丘町店” 🥰

Hear me out! timing and location are everything & I’ve been lucky enough to see them each trip so here are my BEST tips:

🌸 Download the app “Sakura Navi forecast in 2026” in the App Store
🌸 Check websites for the latest flowering situation
🌸 Check google maps for the locations you’d like to go to for the latest reviews
🌸 Check live cams online on the morning of, for the places you’d like to travel to
🌸 Check instagram stories of the location you are going to
🌸 Check content creator posts of the places you’d like to see it because sometimes they put the exact date on their reels.

Cherry blossoms only stay at their best for about a week or so, or at times even shorter due to rain or wind, so timing is EVERYTHING. Different areas bloom at different times, so staying updated helps you adjust plans and avoid showing up when they’ve already fallen on the ground lol 🥲

Following the advice above, is how I’ve always guaranteed finding blossoms in both popular touristy spots and hidden gem locations without going out of my way in my itinerary.

Honestly, you can’t miss them because they’re everywhere across Japan in spring 🌸

I usually book a trip anytime in March to April and I always find them somewhere. This year I went in February and still caught them in Atami 👀.

Happy Blossom Hunting 🌸🥰

Seeing Tokyo night life in a different way on an open deck bus was something else. The breeze though almost blew my belongings away so hold on to them tight lol. #tokyo #tokyothingstodo #japantravel #nightbus taken in Tokyo, Japan by @johnacharice

Last season, I was road-tripping through Bath, England 🇬🇧watching Bridgerton in a van when Season 3 came out whilst exploring the very streets and some filming locations where the series was brought to life.

I was just walking around and a carriage with horses came through right in front me lol. 🐴 Honestly, exploring around historic Bath, soaking in English countryside views 🍃 (I love English countryside so much!!!) and feeling like I’m transported in the Regency era was a dream. ✨

Fast forward to now,

I’m in Asia, watching the new season 4 on a bullet train 🚄 , reflecting on the fact that it’s crazy where life can literally take you. Same show, completely different chapter. And seeing an Asian (Korean) lead this season makes it feel even more full circle. 😌

on another note, more ?? Europe content once I sit down & sort my life, file(s)😆😅

Been getting some dm’s so here’s everything you’ll need to host the perfect Galentine’s dinner event. 💕🎊💘💓🎀

I’ve been loving dinners and meaningful conversations lately with friends and it’s been so wholesome and soul filling.

You can actually apply these same essentials for any event or party, and you can customise it. Even a “just because girls night or hangout” is so fine.
