Henrhyd Waterfall north west of Ystradgynlais. The highest in south Wales. Used in a Batman film I was told (?). Then along the Nant Llech gorge to where the Llech enters the Taee river. Gorgeous blue sky, a moderately challenging walk with muddy patches at regular intervals! by @johnahiggins3

Some bonds are strong enough to survive when people matter more than moments of conflict. (And,of course, a curry night is involved!). taken in Bangla Pride Telford by @johnahiggins3

Road trip to Sammoroy island, thanks to booking a trip weeks ago. Yhe arctic weather meant any other travel option was a non-starter. The coach driver followed a seemingly non-existent road awaiting snow plough activity. A few stops en route before a snow-blasted beach picnic. Returning to Tromso a quick trip to the planetarium to find Northern Light displays finished for the day. Do so a quick play on the scientific offerings with Anne doing her 'hamster bit' for the planet, generating enough electricity to light....a torch! by @johnahiggins3

Not to waste the opportunity, two moated National Trust castles visited prior to departing the High Weald: Bodiam and Scotney. Both were a type of indulgence or expression of wealth by the aristocrats of the day: A statement of status albeit with overtones of defending the realm against potential French invasion. A day of occasional heavy showers and warm sunshine. by @johnahiggins3

Sussex by the sea on a mixed weather, largely sunny day: With 45 mph winds on Bexhill sea front! Hastings castle is definitely not noteworthy. Despite only 4 or so sections of wall standing with no rooms to sea, dogs not allowed! Yards away even better views of the old town West Park and the old cliff railway and distant funicular, the UK's steepest. Bexhill, in 1902, held the UKs first ever car road race. Some unusual homes with supposed Maharaj connections. by @johnahiggins3

A wet day out catching up with history. Battle, named after a battle which changed the course of English history as the last Angli Saxon King fell to a Norman claiming the throne he thought was rightfully his. Perhaps Williams religious views and conscience motivated him to order an Abbey to be built on the spot where Harold fell? Around which a new town slowly developed. A relatively small field of conflict between two low hills that was all over in several hours. Wooden sculptures around the field depict soldiers with limbs or parts of, missing: Presumably deliberate to indicate the wounds that slashing swords in close combat would produce? Around 3 hrs passed full of interest that included Tim struggling with the winding staircases to the gatehouse viewing level!! Reflection was undertaken in the Battle Brewhouse! by @johnahiggins3

A day of two walks on the north and south side of Bewl reservoir. Many feet below usual height means you can walk around the lake bed rather than in the woods. After the first walk - a pint in the 14th ct Bulls Head. Then a drive to the water park and look at the dam improvement work costing over £30 million. Anne, seeking wine, had to make do with @ grape sampling! by @johnahiggins3

Bedgebury forest, Pinetum and former school. A serious nature walk. The Pinetum is linked to Kew Gardens and home to 12,000 species of trees. The huge building on the estate ceased to be a language and international school in 2010 and was bought by a single owner in 2012 but damp and timber problems have impacted on restoration and conversion. by @johnahiggins3
