"I'm So Happy" to have played on this title track with Ms Rachel and Aron Accurso. Even though it was just a "supporting role", doubling other parts etc, it was FUN!

I took photos on that horrible morning from Weehawken, NJ and have never shared them.
They are on slides so I didn't have an easy way of sharing but what I did here was just take a photo of the slide with my iPhone. My heart goes out to everyone impacted by this day that changed everything. by @johnbenthalguitar

Instruments of Encanto!
First pic: Venezuelan cuatro
Built by #Ideal_MusicCorp ,
Thank you to Aurelina and Luis (luthier)!
Tuned like top 4 of guitar but up a 5th. (Except first string is an octave lower)

2nd pic: Charango built by Bolivian luthier Ignacio Suarez.
Tuning:
5th Course (G): G₄ G₄ (Unison)
4th Course (C): C₅ C₅ (Unison)
3rd Course (E): E₅ E₄ (Octave - one string is high, one is low)
2nd Course (A): A₄ A₄ (Unison)
1st Course (E): E₅ E₅
(Many strings tuned almost the same, so a narrow range of notes, many doubled when you strum)

3rd pic: Colombian tiple (tee-play) 12 strings, 4 courses of three strings each (middle note of bottom three is an octave below), tuned like top 4 strings of guitar.
Build by Col. luthier #PabloHernanRueda

Next week!! The film "Encanto"
accompanied by the NY Phil!
This is going to be a blast! - Latin/ Colombian music on this Lin Manuel, Disney animated film. We have 3 guitarists: Freddy Ramos (who played the original soundtrack) from LA, the brilliant David Mansfield also on guitars, and myself on Latin fretted instruments: Colombian tiple, charango, VZ cuatro.
Plus 3 Latin percussionist added to the Phil percussion section. 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Special thanks to Luis and Aurelia of #idealmusic_corp for all their help with the excellent cuatro 👍🏼 taken in David Geffen Hall by @johnbenthalguitar

This Monday at the Bitter End... Mando Monday!!
Ann Klein's 5-mandolin group plays fun arrangements of classic pop, TV themes, and whatever else you'd never expect to hear on mandos...
I'll be playing mandocello on this one - the guitar-sized version. 😮 taken in The Bitter End by @johnbenthalguitar

How many strings?? 🤔
Let's see... Ronroco - 10 strings, Charango - 10 strings, classical gtr - (only) 6 strings, Colombian Tiple - 12 strings.
That's ... umm... too many strings!
A LOT of tuning. 😮 Lol.
Session with the wonderful composer, Chris Hajian.

Fun stuff! 👍🏼

Rescheduled! Our concert at Radio City with NY Phil is now Tuesday night. This is the first time the NYP has play Radio City in its 200 years history! 😮
Honored to be part of that!
I'm on guitar and Venezualan cuatro (which will be fun because Dudamel is Venezualan) by @johnbenthalguitar

This week with the NY Phil - pretty cool, introducing the new sound system at Radio City! The orchestra will be playing mostly short pieces - greatest hits. 🔥
I'll be on acoustic guitar and Venezuelan cuatro. ✌🏼
