✨The hardest part about Havasu Falls was leaving

My lover and I, 10 miles tucked into the canyon, turquoise water, insane stars, majestic waterfalls, no service, and the kind of days that make you forget what time it is

Havasupai, you were unreal 🄹

After finishing the French Camino, Brooke and I spent a few days in Porto in early April, and it was exactly what we needed after 38 days and 540 miles on the trail. The city instantly reminded me of something out of Pirates of the Caribbean—weathered buildings covered in colorful tile, winding cobblestone streets, old trams, sailboats along the Douro, and a little bit of beautiful chaos around every corner.

We spent our days getting lost on purpose, wandering the waterfront, enjoying amazing food and local wine, and taking in a city that somehow feels both lively and relaxed at the same time. After weeks of living out of our backpacks and walking from sunrise to sunset, Porto was the perfect place to slow down, reflect on everything the Camino had given us, and simply enjoy being together before heading back home. It’s a city we’ll definitely come back to. šŸ‡µšŸ‡¹ā¤ļø taken in Porto, Portugal by @johncurry17

We did it—the French Camino de Santiago, ā€œThe Way.ā€
On March 3rd, Brooke and I set out from St. Jean Pied de Port in southwest France, beginning what would become one of the most meaningful journeys of our lives. Over 38 days, we walked 870 km (540 miles) all the way to the Atlantic Ocean in Finisterre, Spain. That final swim in the ocean… easily one of the most incredible moments I’ve ever experienced.
It’s hard to put the Camino into words, but I’ll try.
This journey takes you through every emotion and somehow ties them all together into something bigger. Every step feels like a reflection of life itself.
The Camino has a way of pulling you inward. It helps you search for what you think you need… and then, somehow, gives you things you didn’t even know you were missing.
There’s a kind of quiet magic out there. Simple, but powerful. A ā€œBuen Caminoā€ from a stranger, a shared smile with another pilgrim, a horse wandering down an empty road in the Spanish Basque Country, or a man playing beautiful music echoing through an empty church at night. It shifts your perspective. It wakes something up in you. It reminds you how to just be. The Camino provides always. They say the Camino begins when the Camino ends. Buen Camino, my friends. We’re all on our way.

Wow, and just like that, this journey is over? Or is it just beginning? Every time I sit down to write a few words about this experience, I’m brought to tears. What an emotional dichotomy. I like to call it ā€œjoyful sufferingā€ I’m absolutely positive that words would fall completely short of what I experienced on the Camino de Santiago. 38 days of walking from France across Spain to Santiago de Compostela, and then to Finisterra, to the Atlantic Ocean, was nothing short of magic, sprinkled in with pain, suffering, kindness, laughter, joy and tears. I’m not completely sure I understand it quite yet. I couldn’t tell you 5 towns off the top of my head that I walked through, but it’s the nature, the sunrises, the sunsets, the tree hugs, the food, the lack of sleep, the laughter, the happiness, the quiet, the birds chirping, the love, and the space that I remember. The people.. oh the people, sharing stories about life, the sadness, the happiness, the hugs, the love, a granola bar, a couple of nuts, a needle to pop your blister, a bit of Vaseline for your feet, a compede to ease your troubles, an ear to listen to your struggles, or simply a smile. The Buen Caminos truly never got old, and the warmth and kindness from a stranger turned friend never felt unfamiliar. This Camino bubble that I’ve been in, is the coziest I’ve ever felt in my life. How could going without make me feel so incredibly fulfilled? Everything on my back, was everything that I needed. It reminded me that I have everything within me to achieve anything that I want. It reminded me that the Camino, or even just life will provide me with everything I could ever need, and I really dont need much to be happy. I don’t know if I understand this thing quite yet, but what I do understand is gratitude. Gratitude for space, for time, and for the people that are in my life. I’m not sure where I’ll go from here, but I know I can count on the universe to provide me with all the riches I could ever need to feel whole. Riches aren’t tangible, and happiness isn’t a destination. I am forever grateful for this experience, for this life, and for this journey.
It was never about the destination. taken in Camino de Santiago by @johncurry17

Fell in love with Bruges, Belgium šŸ‡§šŸ‡Ŗ šŸ¤

Marveled at story book architecture that made you feel frozen in time, Drank in a medieval basement, wandered the dreamy canals, and walked across Lover’s Bridge at Minnewater Lake. Tasted every Belgian beer we could find, indulged in chocolate + waffles, Danced in the rain, explored cobblestone streets, watched swans gliding through canals. So romantic. So charming. So very Bruges. ✨ taken in Bruges, Belgium by @johncurry17
