30 years ago I had a solo exhibition at @tapgallery for @sydneymardigras : "Homo Lives! In Portrait".

That show featured 50 portraits of Sydney queer community leaders. The exhibition served as a fundraiser for the Community Support Network (CSN), a volunteer organisation providing essential support to people living with AIDS.

In 2025 I had my first Australian retrospective exhibition. (My previous two retrospective shows were in Thailand and USA.)

John Douglas: An Introspective Retrospective comprised 447 paintings, drawings and installation videos. Again at TaP Gallery.

On opening night Lesley brought me up to the podium, and there she was holding this photo of us from 1995.

What a beautiful moment. To share such a long and meaningful history with Lesley, who has given so much to community arts in Sydney and has a warm and strong heart.
