MARY, ADVOCATE OF SEMINARIANS

The Blessed Virgin Mary can be looked upon as a loving mother and advocate for seminarians. A seminarian is walking a particular journey of discernment, formation, prayer, study, and sacrifice, and he needs spiritual support throughout this journey. Mary, who perfectly welcomed God’s call and remained faithful to Him, is a beautiful model and companion for every seminarian.

As an advocate, Mary is someone to whom the seminarian can confidently turn in prayer. When he feels weak, discouraged, or uncertain, he can entrust his struggles and vocation to her maternal care. He can ask her to intercede for him before her Son, Jesus Christ, knowing that she continually points him toward Christ and encourages him to remain faithful to God’s will.

Mary also teaches seminarians how to live their vocation with humility and obedience. Her “yes” at the Annunciation reminds every seminarian that vocation begins with openness to God’s call and grows through daily surrender. Her life teaches him that true service is not about seeking oneself, but about giving oneself generously to God and His people.

Therefore, every seminarian should cultivate a filial relationship with Mary and confidently entrust his vocation to her. Mary, Mother of God, Mother of the Church, and Advocate of Seminarians, pray for those preparing for the priesthood, strengthen them in moments of difficulty, protect them from discouragement, and lead them ever closer to your Son, Jesus Christ.
