Old Charleston Jail. Charleston, South Carolina.
Behind these walls, prisoners suffered in darkness, isolation, and brutal conditions.
And some investigators believe something else remained behind.
The temperature drops.
The darkness moves.
And sometimes, you are convinced you are not alone.
This is the Old Charleston Jail.
And something is still counting prisoners.

Charleston, South Carolina.
America’s first theater.
Burned. Rebuilt.
Again and again.
Actors refuse to go on stage alone.
Footsteps echo from empty corridors.
Voices where no one stands.
This isn’t performance.
Something else is still taking the stage.

Charleston, South Carolina.

This is where people were bought and sold.
Families torn apart.
Lives reduced to property.

Human evil lived here.

And places like this don’t go quiet.

Footsteps with no one there.
Voices that answer back.
A presence that does not belong to the living.

This isn’t history.

It’s still here.

September 24.

The hunt didn’t end in New Jersey.

It came South.

And this time, it’s not alone.

Southern Demons begins Thursday.

The South remembers what the North tried to forget.

Something followed us out of New Jersey.
It didn’t stay there.

It came South.

And it didn’t come alone.

Built in 1760.
Something never left.

Guests heard it.
Owners lived it.

Footsteps. Voices. Shadows.

This isn’t a ghost story.

It’s something else.

Jersey Devils found a home here.

Built in 1762, this tavern once housed travelers… and something else.

After a British raid in 1778, something never left.

Footsteps still echo from the attic.
Heavy. Deliberate.
Sometimes… a struggle.

History doesn’t stay buried here.

Gallows Hill — Westfield, New Jersey.

In 1778, this quiet stretch of road was used for public executions.
The condemned were brought here… and left hanging.

But something didn’t leave with them.

Witnesses report an oppressive presence in the trees.
A silence that feels… watched.
Some refuse to return after dark.

This isn’t just history.

It’s residue.

I’m John James Minster, author of supernatural horror fiction.
I go to these places to document what still lingers.

Because what waits in one place…
can follow.

This 300-year-old New Jersey inn is older than America… and something inside it is pretending to be human.

The White Horse Inn in Chatsworth, New Jersey looks restored. Quiet. Ordered. But what was left behind here was never removed.

Built in 1860, this inn served stagecoach and railroad travelers heading into the Pine Barrens. Over time, ownership changed again and again. Many died here.

A window was once found dislodged with no explanation. A police officer heard footsteps inside while alone. The alarm never triggered. He refuses to return.

During a meeting, multiple people heard a child laughing inside the building. No child was there.

Something here still moves.

I’m John James Minster. What follows us into places like this isn’t human—and it doesn’t stay behind. You’ll encounter it again inside my supernatural horror fiction wherever books are sold.

Not every beautiful historic mansion has a peaceful past.

The Southern Mansion in Cape May has been the source of reports involving unexplained aromas, a laughing female apparition, unexplained cold spots, EVPs, and doors that lock by themselves.

History leaves its mark. Sometimes something darker remains.

If you could get a cheap summer rental here, would you?

📚 If supernatural horror is your passion, my stories are available wherever books are sold.

👇 Tell me in the comments:

Would you investigate the Southern Mansion after dark?
