The hardest lessons in bodybuilding are often the ones that change you forever. 2020 was one of those moments for me. A moment that forced me to take full ownership of my results and become obsessed with understanding what separates potential from execution. That journey changed my career. It changed how I coach. And ultimately, it became the foundation for everything we’ve built inside J3 University. Level 1 isn’t just another course. It’s the accumulation of years of competing, coaching, experimenting, failing, learning, and refining. It’s the roadmap I wish I could have given my younger self in the beginning Whether you’re an athlete trying to maximize your physique, a self-coach looking for clarity, or a coach wanting to better serve your clients, this is the system that shaped my approach. The doors are officially open. Comment ā€œENROLLā€ below and I’ll send you the details. by @johnjewett3

One of the biggest misconceptions I see in bodybuilding is that if you want to have a child, you automatically have to come completely off TRT or your cycle. The reality is that fertility is far more nuanced than that. Many bodybuilders are told to come off everything, wait months for hormone production to recover, and hope sperm production returns. For some people, that may absolutely be the right path. But for others, there may be alternative approaches worth discussing with a qualified physician before making that decision. The primary concern isn’t necessarily testosterone production itself it’s fertility potential and sperm production. As a bodybuilder, if I were personally in that situation, coming completely off testosterone would have significant consequences. Libido, energy, recovery, training performance, body composition, and overall quality of life all matter. Those are also things that can directly impact the conception process itself. Over the years, I’ve seen numerous successful cases where athletes were able to maintain testosterone replacement therapy while working with fertility-focused interventions under physician guidance and successfully conceive without completely abandoning their bodybuilding goals. The biggest takeaway is this: Don’t let fear, forum advice, or bro-science make the decision for you.Get objective data. Get fertility testing.Work with a qualified physician who understands both fertility and hormone optimization. Understand all of your options before committing to a plan. If you’re currently navigating fertility while using TRT or performance-enhancing drugs, this is exactly where a team like @marekhealth can be invaluable. Having the right diagnostics and medical guidance can save months—or years—of frustration. Also, if you’re a coach, competitor, or someone who wants to better understand topics like fertility, endocrine function, blood work interpretation, PED application, contest prep, and long-term health management, @j3university Level 1 opens tomorrow. It’s the exact education I wish I had access to when I first started coaching and competing. by @johnjewett3

I beat my shoulders and rotator cuff up for years by going excessively deep on pressing. More range of motion didn’t mean better chest training for me it just meant more wear and tear. Finding your depth of press before you get into an exercise can be incredibly helpful. The goal is to find the range where the pec is actually doing the work, without running into limitations from your shoulders, joints, or other structures. Arbitrary touch points are exactly that arbitrary. Your range of motion should be based on the range that your pec can actually control, with the focus staying on the muscle you’re trying to train. Build Log Week 2.This week felt a lot better.Big decisions around J3U finally moved forward, bodybuilding stayed steady, had to make the smart call with training, dealt with some family stress, and we sold our old house..almost.One thing I’ve learned lately is progress isn’t always about adding more. Sometimes it’s just maintaining well while life is happening around you.Not forcing the pendulum squat when my knee said no.Not letting stressful moments convince me the whole week was bad.Sometimes the biggest win is keeping perspective and stacking enough small wins together.272 lbs and moving forward. by @johnjewett3

If we haven’t met yet, I’m John Jewett.I used to be the guy working a 9–5 I didn’t enjoy, hoping I could somehow make something more out of bodybuilding and build a life around the thing I was obsessed with. When I first turned pro, someone told me:ā€œHe’ll never do anything as a pro.ā€At the time, all people saw was placings, not potential. What they didn’t see was the vision I had for building something bigger than myself.Since then, I’ve built two businesses: @j3university and @j3ucoaching Not just to coach athletes… but to elevate the standard of physique education. Now we’ve helped over 12,000 people through J3 University and helped turn aspiring coaches into confident coaches. We’ve watched people build careers from the knowledge they gained, create income doing what they love, support their families, and pursue opportunities they never thought were possible.J3U wasn’t built from shortcuts or hype. It was built from years of obsession with mastering this craft, learning through failures, showing up consistently, and staying committed when people doubted the path.Bodybuilding gave me more than a physique. It gave me purpose, discipline, and the opportunity to impact people far beyond the stage. And the best part is… we’re just getting started. by @johnjewett3
