Carnivores on the bedroom windowsill. I've been watching this new pitcher of Nepenthes maxima 'Wavy' (thanks @frank_cooke07) nestling into Pinguicula anatomy, and this morning noticed that its operculum has opened. I still can't believe that I'm growing Nepenthes on a windowsill!

Around the garden this weekend. Daisy time is upon us, none more prolifically than the ethereal Erigeron annuus, a leitmotif that binds the garden together.

Nerine bowdenii subsp. wellsii is having its best year ever - here with Eucomis 'Cornwood' and Chrysanthemum 'Dixter Orange', in perilous proximity perhaps.

The flowers of subsp. wellsii are held on long pedicels.

The beautifully goffered reflexed segments of Nerine bowdenii subsp. wellsii make it so distinct from the nominate subspecies. I think it should be recognised as a full species, for many reasons.

A selection from @kewgardens this week. Colletia ulicina is from Chile and currently looking very bright on the Rock Garden.

The flowers of Colletia ulicina emerge from the dense mass of spine foliage along the stems. The bush can get rather rangy with time.

Agave montana powering up, probably the first time it's flowered at Kew. This inflorescence may not open flowers until next year now.

The fabulous Koelreuteria bipinnata, which should be planted much more - but beware impostors in the nursery trade.
