Really enjoyed making this cover for Ian Thomas’s fascinating examination of “prestige” Batman comics—The Dark Knight Returns and The Cult—in the context of the U.S.’s rightward lurch in the 1980s. A benefit for Asheville Prison Books and highly recommended! Link in bio… by @johnny.damm

What better day than the 4th to preorder my weird comic which combines 1940s U.S.-themed, flag-costumed superheroes with the words of federal immigration police? by @johnny.damm

The new issue of “I’m a Cop” (available to PREORDER now!) begins with this page, which uses text from ICE agents talking with one another after arresting Job Garcia, a Los Angeles PhD student on June 19, 2025.

These figures are all early 1940s superheroes: Minute Man, The Flag, The Great Defender, & Captain Freedom. by @johnny.damm

“I’m a Cop” 3 now has a cover and is available for preorder! The issue combines 1940s nationalist superheroes with quotes from ICE, Border Patrol, and DHS’s ICE recruitment campaign.

More real-life horror. Now with superheroes.

Been making progress on “I’m a Cop” 3, which combines early 40s patriotic superheroes with statements from federal law enforcement. The text here is from a recorded conversation between Border Patrol Agents and Florida Highway Patrol, celebrating arrests in North Palm Beach on May 2, 2025. by @johnny.damm
