With no one around, a flock of geese have been hanging around the property. Camera caught footage of one charging a deer walking through the yard. Don’t mess with the Cobra Chicken. #fiddlersgreenbc by @johnnyfuoco

As some people have been asking, #FiddlersGreenBC is still under evacuation order. The fire is being held at 70 Mile with an excursion south of the lake that they have been building a fire guard and did a planned ignition a couple days ago.

The fire is approx 8km from the southwest corner and ~24km from our property.

The VFD, the RCMP and BCWS are patrolling the neighbourhood and making sure the properties are fire smart and for those closer to the fire they have been putting up sprinklers on the roof, ready to turn on if necessary.

The weather and the winds have been favourable the past few days, while positive, we are far from being out of the woods. Given the predominant winds and our location on the lake I am not currently worried about our place. by @johnnyfuoco

Woke up this morning to alert on my phone advising the properties around Green Lake are now under evacuation order.

Not worried about losing FG2.0, we are well positioned on the lake if the fire does hit the lake based on the predominate winds, aspen groves along the north side of the lake and the structural protection team’s history of saving properties from fire.

I am thankful for the brave men and women on the front lines doing the best they can to tame this beast.

Looks like summer at the lake is officially cancelled.

Thoughts are with everyone impacted, prayers for the fire fighters for their safety and patience while it will take time to get this under control.

Not a good day in the Cariboo. A dry lightening storm came through and started a bunch of fires followed by a very hot and windy day. Fire near Big Bar Lake quickly grew to over 40 sq km and can be seen from my dock. I have a friend with a property in BBL, praying the wind changes and the brave fire fighters can get this under control. taken in Green Lake, Cariboo, BC by @johnnyfuoco

Had a visitor that I didn’t know was there until I opened the blinds. I don’t know if she couldn’t see me through the window, or didn’t run off because couldn’t smell me.

Regardless, was really cool getting up close to this pregnant deer 🦌
