WIP. Working off a photo I took in the Musee D’Orsay 20 yrs ago. I haven’t been able to track down the name of the statue… Anyone know?

Big thanks to @taylor.mcwhorter for the Photography and edit.

I made this hard on myself by painting this dancer so small. The background is going to completely change, darker and more liquid in fluid alignment with her pose. Ballet shoes and hands next. Might need a finer brush. Work in Progress. taken in Venice, California by @johnnyloz

Sometimes ideas hit fully formed. But often I only get a loose picture. Sketching invites the “ah ha” moments. Inevitably I’ll know what I want to make if I put in the time watering an idea. It’s weird sharing these, the process is more personal than the finished piece. taken in Venice Beach, CA by @johnnyloz

“Grape Tree” is worth more than $20, I got a damn good deal. Artist Fidji is south of Hollywood Bowl on Highland Ave. I encourage others to buy her work, the validation of sales will empower and encourage her to develop her skill.

I was genuinely stopped by the bright colors, the sharp lines in the clouds against the liquid red in the tree bark… she thinned the pinks of the sky and thickened the blacks in the tree trunk. She manipulated the medium from natural instinct, not from training. She was totally focused on her work… all without thinking she’s any good. taken in Hollywood Bowl by @johnnyloz

No plan drawing… My thoughts in order: Draw a Tree. A Snake. Boy on swing? Sure. Boy versus snake. Yeah. Round portal thingy like a uroboros? Whoa, yeah why not? Meta layer of second boy holding onto Uroboros?
Cool, I’m into it.
Ugg, I gotta post this.
People gonna know I’m weird.
I am.
Whatever.
