Swore I’d never buy a Nike-made England shirt. The F.A. should never have sold the rights to an American company.
But, when your son orders you one for your birthday, you relent and put it on.
Looks good (except for that damned swoosh). by @johnnysoho

So, this is 61.
Receiving birthday wishes on Facebook is the best social media interaction, by far.
Thanks for all your kind words and birthday wishes.

Regular visitors may recall that I long ago promised to buy an ice chipper when I was 60.
Well, I’m 60, the spring thaw is here and I had fun making my selection at the nearby hardware store.
I opted for the heavy duty Garant Pro model, which will likely outlast me.
Now I can finally be one of the old guys I grew up watching — ensuring that the drains of my street and lane remain open this spring. by @johnnysoho

Grabbed this from Cadence Weapon’s Substack (well worth a look). Damien Owens is an Irish author, and he just made me laugh out loud.

When me, Brian Howard, Ron Smith and Ken Nero did a two-song air band KISS performance in theatre class at Glenwood School, I was Ace. It was 1975. We were 10.
In 1997, I interviewed the man himself on the phone in advance of the Winnipeg Arena gig on their late-’90s reunion tour. He was friendly and garrulous and that broad Noo Yawk accent was no put-on. Before the show, Darryl Sterdan (aka Tinnitist) and I met Ace and Gene backstage. They were in stage gear and makeup and it seemed like they were eight feet tall.
I may have said “Wow!” aloud.
Eleven years later I talked to Ace in advance of a solo show at the Garrick, and he told me he was just thankful to be touring.
The gig itself was more fun than a KISS show — a loose, party atmosphere, with the Spaceman backed by a band of consummate pros. The version of New York Groove they played that night must have been 10 minutes long.
It’s a great way to remember him. ❤️
