Kijk nou wat er in de gezamenlijke mailbox van ons bedrijf zat: een anoniem dreigement.

Om te beginnen is het natuurlijk niet heel dapper dreigementen anoniem te sturen. Wie denkt dat zoiets indruk op mij maakt, vergist zich. Het sterkt me vooral in het idee dat een inhoudelijk geluid tegen Jodenhaat belangrijker is dan ooit.

Ik ben een vriendelijke, zachtaardige vent en wie mij kent, weet dat ik altijd nieuwsgierig ben naar andermans ideeën en graag argumenten hoor om m’n eigen opvattingen uitgedaagd te zien en aan te scherpen. Maar dan wel in een goed inhoudelijk en respectvol gesprek.

Eerlijk is eerlijk: het dreigement hierboven heeft maar weinig om het lijf. En de aantijgingen hebben niets te maken met ons werk of de dingen die wij als bureau delen, het is enkel gericht aan mijn adres. Onze opdrachtgevers kiezen ons niet op basis van de maatschappelijke of politieke opvattingen die wij er persoonlijk op nahouden. Dat is ook onmogelijk, want wat wij ergens van vinden, verschilt per persoon per onderwerp.

Volgens mij ben ik de enige van onze studio die zich openlijk uitspreekt tegen Jodenhaat. Dat doe ik op persoonlijke titel. Niet anti-Palestijns, wel pro-Israëlisch. Vooral bedoeld als weerwoord op de op Instagram alomtegenwoordige Jodenhaat, het anti-zionisme en de Israëlhaat. En nu dus ook in onze inbox.

Life and Death cancelled their event at #amsterdamdanceevent2025 at @theloft.amsterdam because there had been a private Nova Festival commemoration event earlier that week.

Anything Semitic apparently is reason for performative political statements for extremists like @lifeanddeath_forever The record label that chooses to be political if they can blame Jews and be silent in all other cases. I think that meanwhile Life & Death f*cks over Israeli artists @redaxesofficial , @adamten_ , @dvirnuns_ and @uriah_klapter that feature on the label. They also fuck over all the Hamas victims at the Nova Festival.

Life and Death were silent when peace loving partygoers at Nova were butchered and raped and kidnapped by Islamic terrorists.

I thought and hoped the dance community was all about peace, love, unity and having fun. It has been for decades. But actual antisemites make it about hate, exclusion and cancellation. It’s a bloody shame, live and let live rather than life and death.

As a comment to one of blonderedheadofficial 's many pro Palestinian, pro Hamas, anti Israël posts, I replied this:

It got me instantly cancelled and blocked by them 😂.

Even the idea of another opinion seems unbearable and evil to these wonderful musicians (but failing political analysts). Apparently there is no love and tolerance in their hearts. No room for doubt. No interest in others. No curiosity about ideas. No hunger for peace.

Blonde Redhead were one of the many artists who remained silent after October 7. They never spoke out against Israel or pro Palestine/Hamas prior to that date. They remain silent about Syria, about Yemen, about Sudan, about Iran, about ISIS. And now, in classic useful idiots’ tradition, they copy whatever Hamas drops at their door. It’s a bit sad, it’s a bit lazy, it’s very dumb, and it makes me wonder:

who needs simplistic worldviews like Blonde Redhead’s as guidance for their thoughts and convictions? Is it just Kazu Makino who is this evil, or are the Pace brothers invested in hating Jews as well?
