If your feed keeps telling you men or women can’t be trusted, what do you bring to your next date?

Suspicion? A test? An argument with someone who hasn’t done anything to you?

Having standards is healthy. Treating every person you meet as the enemy makes it harder to discover someone worth loving.

Pay attention to what your content teaches you to practice. Does it help you listen, ask better questions and recognize good character? Or just give you more reasons to stay guarded?

You want an extraordinary relationship. Feed your mind ideas that help you create one.

“It’s not knowing what to do; it’s doing what you know.” —Tony Robbins

The longer we work with people inside The Power Couple, the more convinced I become that most of us don’t have an information problem.

We already know we should have the difficult conversation. We know we should take better care of our bodies. We know we should make the call, follow the plan, manage our money, and do the things that would move our lives forward.

The problem isn’t knowing. It’s doing.

That’s why our work goes beyond teaching relationship skills. Through our peer group and mastermind, we help singles and couples identify and break through the resistance keeping them from taking the actions that create the results they truly want.

We primarily begin with relationships because that’s often where the greatest resistance lives. It’s where our deepest fears, stories, patterns, and insecurities come to the surface.

But something powerful happens when we break through that resistance: it rarely stays contained to the relationship. People begin showing up differently in their health, their wealth, their work, and every other area of their lives.

Because your relationship isn’t separate from the rest of your life.

It can become the fuel that makes everything else better.

So the question isn’t: Do you know what to do?

The question is: Are you doing what you know? by @johnpmeng

Have you ever noticed how the exact same thing can happen, and depending on where your head is at, you can tell yourself a completely different story about it?

That’s been on my mind a lot lately.

If I’m in fear, anger, shame, or just a scarcity mindset, I can take something pretty neutral and turn it into a really disempowering story.

But if I’m in a better state, more grounded, more open, more appreciative, I can look at the exact same situation and see it completely differently.

Same partner. Same facts. Different state. Different story.

And that story matters, because once I create it, I start reacting to the story instead of just responding to what actually happened.

So one of the questions I’m trying to ask myself more often is:

What state am I in right now?

Especially before I decide what something means.

Because your state creates your story.

And your story can either move you closer together or push you further apart.

Mind your state. Better yet, choose your state. by @johnpmeng

WHICH LOVE IS REAL?

The one that feels amazing in the beginning?

Or the one that survives real life?

The truth is, both are real.

The difference is the journey.

Most people are taught to chase the first version of love.

The chemistry.
The butterflies.
The “you’re perfect.”
The “this is so easy.”
The feeling that you finally found your person.

And that part IS real.

But if that becomes your definition of love, real life can eventually feel like a betrayal.

Because then stress shows up.

Differences show up.

Disappointment shows up.

You realize your partner isn’t perfect.

And they realize you aren’t either.

Suddenly…

“We’re soulmates.”

becomes…

“Why are you like this?”

“This isn’t what I expected.”

“You’ve changed.”

“Maybe we were never meant for each other.”

And that is where a lot of relationships start to break.

Not necessarily because the love was fake.

But because the expectation was.

The couples who build something extraordinary usually take a different path.

They build friendship.

Respect.

Shared values.

A sense that, whatever happens…

WE ARE ON THE SAME TEAM.

Then life tests them.

Stress.
Conflict.
Parenthood.
Money.
Ambition.
Loss.
Change.
Hard conversations.
Personal growth.

And instead of turning every challenge into evidence that they chose the wrong person, they learn to ask a different question:

“How do we face this together?”

It becomes less…

YOU vs. ME

and more…

US vs. THE PROBLEM.

They still screw up.

They still get frustrated.

They still hurt each other.

But they learn to communicate.

They repair.

They forgive.

They keep showing up.

They grow.

And something incredible can happen.

They can end up with the kind of love everyone was chasing in the beginning.

But now it is deeper.

Richer.

More honest.

More earned.

The romance is still there.

But now it is standing on something stronger than fantasy.

Maybe “fantasy love” isn’t wrong.

Maybe we just have the order backwards.

We think we are supposed to FIND the extraordinary relationship.

When in reality…

Two people have to BUILD it.

REAL LOVE ISN’T FOUND.

IT’S BUILT. by @johnpmeng
