Today we were honoured to be presented with Sue’s richly deserved OAM at Government House.

An incredible experience to have time with the Governor of Victoria Linda Dessau AC who was so empathetic and warm as we proudly talked about Sue’s amazing achievements.

A beautiful moment in bittersweet circumstances...

On this day last year we celebrated Sue’s OAM Award for Services to Lacrosse. Sue gave 50 years of her life championing the sport at all levels and thoroughly deserved this recognition.
Sadly she never received the actual medal due to the postponement of the ceremony. Hayley, Jess & I will be presented it on February 10 in her honour...

It is surreal to know you are not here to celebrate your special day with us.
You loved to party and today would of been no exception. 🥂
Today family & friends will gather in your honour to recognise your milestone birthday, but sadly the star of the show missing at the celebration will be YOU..

Christmas Day 2020 was vastly different for our family than it has been for the past 34 years.
It was Sue’s favourite day of the year, she loved bringing family & friends together to celebrate and have fun. She was meticulous in her preparation, from the table setting, food, drinks & the gifts, it became her trademark of the day....
Incredibly sadly, it’s surreal to know today she is not with us to celebrate this morning to open presents, drink champagne & prepare for the day ahead.

Thank you to Herald Sun for their article on Sue‘s life & legacy.

Although she is so much more than her cause of death, and did visit her GP regularly, it’s important to shine a light on heart disease and it’s silent symptoms.

Did you know it claims more female lives than breast cancer? 20 Australians lose their life to a heart attack everyday. That’s 20 too many.

We hope this article spreads awareness on heart health, Sue’s legacy and foundation.

One month ago today we lost the best thing that ever happened to us.

These four weeks have felt like a complete blur, but we are comforted reflecting on the incredible display of love and devotion to Sue’s life, the lacrosse community and to us as a family.

Sue’s two playing numbers as an athlete were 17 [for Newport] & 10 [for Victoria & Australia] so maybe it was written in the stars that a month from her passing would be the 17th of October.

We can’t thank everyone enough for their support to date. We are working hard behind the scenes to continue the legacy of the foundation and are excited for what’s to come for Australian Women's Lacrosse, just as Sue would have wanted.

Tell someone you love them today, maybe even pour yourself a glass of champagne and think of Melli 🥂
