This is a finishing drill where the offensive player starts a little ahead of the defender. The defender passes ahead, then chases from behind. The offensive player needs to get a layup with the defender closing in from behind, similar to a breakaway situation.

Here, we are working on shooting by starting off in a drop stance (feet are split wide with the ball side foot forward and the other foot back diagonally). We have the players touching a cone to touch start low. I want them to dribble as they step forward with the inside foot, then step in with the outside foot as they go up to shoot.

Too many kids and parents want to rush the development process and try to be at a higher level than they're at. It's great to have ambition and aim for a higher level, but if you're not even killing it at your current level, why be in such a rush to move to a higher one.

I have had parents bring kids that never dribbled a ball before asking about leagues. What kind of league can you play in if you have never tried to play before? That's a waste of time and money, in my opinion. Take those kids to training, to a camp, or go to the park and let them experiment.

Here, we are getting some reps drifting to the wing and playing off the catch. These particular clips are them driving middle and getting up a floater when they get in the paint. This is meant to move quickly with the passer immediately drifting to get a pass from the next person and continuing with the next person, etc. We do different variations of this with pull-ups, layups, jabs, and shot fakes.
