♿️Class was officially on the move today!

Our PTA students took their wheelchairs out on campus for a little “wheelchair tour” — getting a firsthand look (and roll 😉) at what it’s really like to navigate campus from a wheelchair user’s perspective.

Ramps, doorways, bathrooms, tight turns…they quickly learned that getting from Point A to Point B isn’t always as easy as it looks!

Today was a fun, hands-on reminder that accessibility isn’t just something we learn about — it’s something we need to experience, understand, and advocate for. 💙♿️

We’ve been a little quiet on here with the start of this semester , but in the classroom we are powering through and working hard to prepare for exams! 📚

Who says studying and reviewing needs to be boring !? Over here we’re playing minute to win it style games to prepare for Neurology 🧠⏰!

Its not flying, its falling with *style* …

Today in patient care lab we practiced catching our patients if they lost their balance and started to fall.

🦽Our class was on a roll this week -Literally !!

Our second year PTA students spent patient care lab this week learning all about wheelchairs - including how to measure a patient for a wheelchair as well as how to assess the fit of a wheelchair . They then took it a step further and put themselves in the seat of their future patients and navigated campus to experience accessibility first hand !

Nothing helps to teach empathy and build awareness quite like hands-on / real life experiences 💪🏻

Did you know PTAs can perform massage!?

Not to be confused with massage therapy- PTAs use therapeutic massage techniques to help with pain management, improve circulation, decrease muscle tension, and help with overall improved mobility !

And as a bonus when you’re in PTA school you have to practice those techniques, so it was a very relaxing lab this day! 😌
