Folk-Songs, and the Ninety-Five Moons of Jupiter is now live on Bandcamp, Apple Music, and Spotify.

@kylejguitbox and I poured our eclectic and eccentric folk/ambient hearts into this duo recording. Please have a listen to enjoy the loving yet iconoclastic stylistic fusion and freewheeling improvisations. Mike Cassells at the Isabel Bader Center did a tremendous job recording, mixing, and mastering this. @reneedahn painted the brilliant cover art.

Guitars built by @eastmanguitars, electric violin by @zetaviolins, acoustic violin by @schnurrviolins, pedals by many folks, with noteworthy appearances by @empress_effects and @meris.us

You can listen at the link in bio.

Very excited and grateful to share that I’m now an official performance instructor in Jazz/Contemporary Violin & Viola at @carleton_music! Anyone want to come do an undergrad in jazz strings with me?

I’m very pleased to be joining @muskoxofficial as their live violinist! On January 20th, 2024, Musk Ox will be playing their first concert since 2020 at Carleton University’s Kailash Mital Theatre; this event will serve as the official vinyl release show for the 2021 album Inheritance which we will perform in its entirety.

Local favourite @nick___schofield will be opening the evening - be sure to listen to his new single ‘On Air’ which came out today!

This show has been a long time coming and Musk Ox is beyond grateful for your support over the years. Looking forward to reconnecting with you on January 20th.

Tickets are available now at @muskoxofficial’s link-in-bio - see you there! 🖤

Another cover from our session at @night.oat with @monscenestudio ✨ we love this tune and really enjoyed putting together a folk-jazz arrangement of it. If you wanted us to play it at your wedding or something we definitely wouldn't be mad 🥰

I’m discounting remote and in-person recording rates, as well as performance packages bookings made over the next two weeks. Please reach out if you’re curious about adding some violin, viola, mandolin, or mandocello to your life!

Tomorrow night! Erik and I will be performing 45 continuous minutes of ambient cinematic music, taking a short break, then performing 45 more continuous minutes of music.

We're Fleeting Visions and we're at Art House from 9-11pm.

Erik and I love making music together. We love exploring the intersections of acoustic and electronic music. We love weaving evolving soundscapes. We love a good melody.

Erik and I are fresh from our collaboration in the music department for @themonkeybuziness for @christian_guerin07 new tv series Les Enfants de la Nouvelle France, where Erik and I co-composed and recorded lots of cinematic folk, Celtic and chamber music on a stellar team with @greybrisson, @chrispondmusic, @aniahejnarthroop, @pianojayro and @fmlarkin

Get your tickets for Friday night's Fleeting Visions show. Last time we played Art House we sold out ;) Tickets available at https://sairyo.live/event/4502/fleeting-visions-i47w7w by @johnsonscherger

We can't wait to perform at @arthouse.ottawa this Friday August 21. Fleeting Visions is a cinematic ambient duo made up of @johnsonscherger on electric violin and guitar, and @jackhuilitster on synths and percussion.

This Friday from 9-11pm we'll be performing two continuous 45-minute sets of ambient cinematic music that invites you to close your eyes, reflect, and take a journey.

Our first Fleeting Visions show was at Art House in May 2025 to a sold out crowd.

We spent much of the past year honing our improvisation skills with local music wizard @roddyellias and now we're so excited to bring this duo back to Art House.

Hope to see you there, for an evening of reflective, immersive music. by @johnsonscherger

I am finally catching up on multiple months worth of social media sharing now that I finally get some vacation time this August, starting with @satellitebirdhouse’s phenomenal album launch show at @ottawabluesfest. I’m very grateful to @_curtisperry and the Birdhouse for sharing these photos, and very grateful to Stacy and @troy_huizinga_music for their brilliant songwriting, expressive performing, diligent band-leading, and continuous support of me as a session musician and sideman. I’ve had the privilege to play on each of Satellite Birdhouse’s songs so far, and I feel exceedingly lucky to get to work for and collaborate with such talented and kind human beings. These folks are going far, folks. Have a listen if you haven’t yet.

Erik Johnson-Scherger and Jack Hui Litster are Fleeting Visions, an Ottawa-based cinematic ambient duo. Both are composers, improvisers, and multi-instrumentalists, and their music takes you on simultaneously familiar and ethereal journeys, never to the same realm twice.

Each Fleeting Visions performance is a fresh, captivating and transcendent experience. by @johnsonscherger
