Still processing all the amazingly hard and beautiful things I experienced riding 600 miles across Colorado. But the one big and clear thing is that PEOPLE ARE GOOD!

Seriously, don’t buy into the sham that we as people are divided and broken: that’s a lie propagated by groups that want power by pitting us against each other.

I was the blessed benefactor and witness to the goodness of people — all helping each other because another human being needed a smile, hug, some water, food, or transportation out of a storm.

Not once was kindness preempted by questions about my religious or political affiliation, who I loved, my citizenship or employment status…

I slept most nights in the dirt, and I certainly smelled like wildlife, but I felt no judgment from the very international group of people I met on trail and in small towns.

Some might say this is a small town/state experience (Colorado really is a special place!). But I think the choice is ours to treat our neighbors with kindness, and to replace judgment of others with curiosity and compassion because everyone is on a journey somewhere — and every traveler could use a little support, patience, and praise.

You are amazing, and I for one want to cheer you on!!!

IT. IS. DONE! Denver to Durango: 486 miles by climbing over 93,000 feet of GORGEOUS and challenging trail. This has been a transformative experience full of tears, smiles, pain, prayer, and reflection. Thank you to so many for the support on and off the trail. After I’ve had a chance to decompress I’ll have much more to share. In the meantime, HAPPY TRAILS - especially to my new and beloved ‘tramily!’ by @johnstarky

Fall colors are popping. Get out there and breathe some healing air, even if just a few feet from your car! While my adventuring has slowed down after being hit by a car this summer (I was a pedestrian, just walking to work) 😖, just getting outside — without doing crazy miles — is still spiritually healing. by @johnstarky
