Happy Friday everyone! This fantastic capture of @domainedecourances by @niko_91940 is a reminder that April and especially May and June are ideal times to visit France and Italy, actually much better than summer, when the heat can be very uncomfortable. Courances is about an hour south of Paris by car, and about 12 miles west of Fontainebleau. It would make a wonderful day trip to visit both. Happy Friday everyone with this spectacular view of @villacimbrone in Ravello, 1,200 feet above the Tyrrhenian Sea, which really captures the drama of the location. The terrace that we see toward the end, at the edge of the property next to a cliff, is the Terrace of Infinity, where we have seen so many parties photographed.

Happy Tuesday with this wonderfully evocative capture by the great @pinkines of the view from @villaserbellonibellagio
This particular hotel faces west, so it captures sunset views, and it’s at one of the widest points of the lake, which also adds to the light and to the views. Next door is the divine @giardinidivillamelzi which is one of the most beautiful places in northern Italy and I must visit if you are in the area. Wishing everyone a great day! by @johnyunis

February is a great time to plan ahead for the summer, and If you’re planning to rent an Italian villa this summer, the most special and exceptional villa available on Lake Como and perhaps in the entire Italian Lakes region, is @villa_balbiano and it looks especially inviting here, in this fantastic capture by @fabriziovigano
What makes Balbiano so special is that it is a 17th century building with magnificent historic frescoes, restored to the highest standard, with air-conditioning everywhere (the region can be VERY hot!), wonderful new bathrooms, all surrounded by an impeccably maintained historic garden, with a very large and private pool. The location is near to the widest point of the lake, with the mountains slightly set back, which gives the property much more sunlight throughout the day than other areas of the lake. (Another secret of the lake is that the steep mountains block much of the direct sunlight) Visiting Balbiano and spending time with one of its very kind owners was a highlight of my last visit.

Happy Friday, everyone! Here’s a thought if you’re thinking about visiting northern Italy this summer.
Last summer, my northern Italy trip kicked off with the amazing wedding of @louisecamuto and @danielgrieder on Lake Garda.
A group of us stayed at @villafeltrinelli which was, hands-down, the best hotel of the trip, and one of the best hotels in northern Italy. It’s only 21 rooms and feels like a private house.
The service is fantastic and unobtrusive- the best I’ve ever experienced in any hotel anywhere.
(To give an example, one day, when I came down to the restaurant at noon, I asked the server what time breakfast had ended. “Breakfast never ends, Mr. Yunis. What would you like?”)
It’s located next to the lake and considerably down the hill from the main road, so it’s impressively quiet, especially at night. It’s a 2 to 2 1/2 hour drive from Malpensa, which is roughly the distance of driving from Kennedy airport to Montauk. You can also take a helicopter from Malpensa and land directly on the property in less than an hour.
It’s lovely to go out on the lake in a boat, and there are charming villages nearby, including Limone sul Garda and Riva del Garda, but the highlight is just staying on the property. If it helps, I use @imperialsmartflyer to book all of my travel (recommended by @corneliaguest so you know that they have great service) and @beyondthegates.it to arrange special visits to special places.

Happy Tuesday, everyone! This is me, leaving @thecolonypalmbeach last week after a delicious lunch at @swiftyspb @caravaggirobert with super-talented friends @rachelleehovnanian and @cynthiaefrank (Be sure to follow them both – they are amazing!)
A number of you have asked about my car and it’s a 1984 @mercedesbenz 380sl.
The color is Forest Green 822, and 1984 was the last year that this color was available.
The interior is Palomino 254 in leather. It has 46,000 miles and, as you can see, is kept in very, very special original condition.
So sorry that I’ve been out of touch! At the end of last August, I went to Italy for three weeks, and just wanted to enjoy my time there, so slowed way down on posting. And weeks have turned into months! 🤣🤣🤣
As everyone is starting to plan their summer travel, I’ll post a couple of things from my trip in the near future.
