James is one of the founding ambassadors of BEATS, bringing energy, leadership, and a deep commitment to strengthening the BMET pipeline across North America and beyond. Based in Windsor, Ontario, James blends academic experience, industry awareness, and student‑focused mentorship to help build a modern, accessible entry point into the biomedical engineering technology field as well as mentorship.

What He Stands For

James is driven by a simple belief: the field grows stronger when students and early‑career professionals have clear pathways, real mentorship, and hands‑on opportunities. His work with BEATS focuses on empowering future BMETs through:

James brings a modern, student first perspective to BEATS — helping bridge the gap between education, industry, and the next generation of BME professionals.

Why He Joined BEATS

James recognized a real gap in the biomedical engineering technology space: students and emerging professionals weren’t being heard. Traditional BME organizations do a great job supporting established professionals and managers, but the next generation often enters the field without the same guidance, community, or representation. BEATS was created to change that. Instead of telling young people what the future of BME should be, BEATS listens — and builds that future with them.

BEATS was created to fill that gap — and James is one of the leaders pushing that mission forward.

What He’s Working On

As a BEATS Ambassador, James is actively involved in:

Building BEATS’ national student network
Developing mentorship and placement pathways
Supporting BMET/BME programs globally
Creating modern training content
Leading outreach with HTMAs, vendors, and educators
Helping shape BEATS’ long‑term strategy and events

His work ensures BEATS remains innovative, relevant, and aligned with the needs of today’s learners.
