Business was good. That was the problem. 💊

Americana Trading has been manufacturing and packaging in Chatsworth, California since 2021. Electrolyte drinks, tinctures and oral supplement pouches made from scratch, plus tablets, capsules and gummies packed out for white label customers. NSF GMP, four clean audits behind them.

Their oral pouch line is taking off and the orders are already on the books. But inventory, receiving and all their GMP records were running on Excel and a binder of paper SOPs, with no tablets on the floor. Receiving logs got written by hand, then re-keyed into a spreadsheet so one person could keep track of what was actually in the building.

The owner's words were that if they didn't get a handle on it now, it was going to spiral out of control.

So they're handling it now, in the middle of their busy season.

Nothing was broken at The Graceful Cookie. That's what makes this one worth telling. 🍪

They've been baking in Vallejo, California since the mid-90s. About a dozen SKUs, one shift, 10 to 15 people, going out to restaurants and retail.

No recall in 15 years. Nobody demanding they change anything. David could have left it alone and probably gotten away with it for another decade.

But he knew his team was logging ingredients by the date they came in instead of the lot code printed on the bag. Which is fine right up until a supplier calls about a bad lot and you're pulling a whole day of production because you can't isolate which one it was.

So he's closing it now, heading into the busiest month the company has ever had.

We’re big believers that there is always a place to do business the “old fashioned” way.

Showing up in-person to look a client in the eye, shake their hand, meet their team, drop off some beignets, and thank them for entrusting their business with us.

We had a great time in New Orleans on Monday visiting our client Boscoli Foods, walking the facility floors and listening to our users.

🎉 Excited to welcome @bluestembotanicals to the Caddy Community! 🌿

They've been farming in Doylestown, Pennsylvania since 2008. When they switched from growing vegetables to medicinal and aromatic herbs, they built a manufacturing facility right on the farm — and today they're certified organic, making 200+ syrups, tinctures, extracts and hydrosols from what they grow themselves.
