Year 4.

Grateful.

I’ll say this every year but I truly find it funny that God gave me a second birthday on the drunkest day of the year. He really likes to play when he plays. Lmao

Being transparent though, this was a rough year internally. I don’t think I spread my light enough. I don’t think I worked hard enough. I don’t think I loved hard enough. I could’ve been better in so many areas. But that’s the beauty of life. Sometimes God or whoever or whatever you believe in gives you another chance to fix that. To be accountable. To spread love and light. To sow into people. To be better!

I woke up 4 years removed from being shot 6 times and living to tell that story. So I’m grateful.

I woke up to beautiful children and a circle of family and friends that I can say truly loves me and I love them back. So I’m grateful.

I lost a few anchors in this fourth year but I’m learning that when you do things the right way and spread your light that even death can be beautiful. So I love you J dot. I love you Cali. I love you PK. I learned how to be more genuine because of you and I’m grateful forever for the time I was awarded to share with you all.

To every light that I’ve met along the way and to the lights that keep me sustained …I’m grateful.

The only way to change the world is if we all spread this light together. I truly believe that and I will never stop trying! Love the people around you. Hold them accountable. Make them better. Hold yourself accountable. Be better!

3 years.

Before I go and let these Mexican hips do their thing on Cinco de Mayo, I have to give thanks first. Everyday I wake up so thankful for the people God has put in my life and the people that He’s allowed me to shine light on. I’m thankful for every extra breath I’m able to take, every extra smile I get to make, and every extra step I get to take in the right direction.

Life is truly precious and God saw fit for me to keep telling my story instead of ending it behind a club and I’m forever thankful man. I hope that I can bless every person, i don’t care if it’s only for five mins, with the light that he put inside me. I want the world to smile. I want the world to be a safe space for every single person I come across and God gave me an extra chance to keep doing just that.

I may not be perfect, but I’m genuine and that will never change. When I say I love yall I mean it! Thankful for every person that saved my life that night and every day before and after that. Ima product of all of y’all’s good parts. In order to be such a light you gotta get the energy from somewhere and that’s through every single person I come across. Yall truly keep me going and I’m thankful for everyone.

The irony in having an anniversary of new life on the drunkest holiday of the year, but God really knows how to tell the best jokes. lmao.

It’s been 2 years since I was shot and I don’t think I’ve really processed it still. What I have been able to process though, is the fact that everything you do in life has purpose and it can all be gone in the blink of an eye. So JUST LIVE. You don’t have to be perfect. Everyday isn’t going to be the best day ever. You’ll have highs and you’ll definitely have lows. But JUST LIVE.

I’ll personally thank all the people that were there for me when I needed them most today but this post isn’t really about me. It’s for you. You can make it out of whatever it is that is holding you down or that you’re struggling with. You’re stronger than you know! You have a purpose. A reason to live. You just have to find it. Don’t ever feel like the world is a better place without you. It never is.

Six shots couldn’t stop my story so why would I let anything else stop me?
