When I started running I did every easy day too hard. Running slow felt like wasting the session, so I didn’t do it. The cost showed up on the hard days, not the easy ones. Everything you need is in the slides. The heart rate range for each zone, the effort out of ten, and what you should be able to say out loud in each one. That last one needs no watch and no strap. 10,000 of you. That number still doesn’t feel real Blood, sweat, tears and a lot of late nights built this. Two delayed launch dates. Yall think you’re fine, then get injured halfway through your next block and wonder why Back running a few days after your first marathon? That’s how injuries and illness start. Race day takes a lot out of your muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints and nervous system. Instagram has made jumping straight back into big runs look normal. For most runners it isn’t. Depending on your experience and how hard the event was, recovery can take anywhere from 1 to 3 weeks. I’ve run well over 50 marathons and I’m on the Australian backyard ultra team. I can run a few days after a marathon because I’ve got years of running behind me. Even I’m in a recovery block right now after running over 500km. the average marathon finisher runs 4:34. Social media has tricked us into thinking a sub-3:30 is normal But it’s an hour faster than average… most people chase it by running more, then more again. all that load on one engine. it works right up until it doesn’t 🤕 the long run is the anchor and it peaks well short of race distance. the bike carries aerobic work your legs can absorb. strength once a week, minimum. hard runs 48 hours apart, and the long run counts as one. you don’t need more kilometres. you need better ones.
