When I first wrote Mya’s Meadow, I didn’t write it with publishing it in mind.

I wrote it so that my family and I could add it to the rotation of books we read to Mya in the NICU. And on a deeper level, to bring a bit of hope and light to a situation that was dark.

Publishing it, and learning the ins and outs of self-publishing, is an experience I will always cherish. And while it’s cool to say that I’m an author, Mya’s Meadow means so much more to me than that.

Working with @ms_saratops and @clare.finney on the illustration and design (two incredibly talented women who are equally as kind & gracious). Getting to surprise Andy and Heather with it. Seeing how many people have brought Mya into their lives and have been touched by her story. Hearing that Mya’s Meadow is their children’s favorite book. Knowing that although Mya isn’t here on earth with us, she is still making her mark on this world. These have been the real gifts.

Today was one of those gifts. The turnout for my first author event was more than I could have ever expected. It’s hard to put into words how grateful I am to all of the friends, family, and book lovers who showed up today to support me and show their love for Mya. I know she felt it, too.

Thank you @josephbethcincy for having me and to @cincychildrens for the collaboration and continued support. It was a perfect day.

Proud of this one.

I’ve been a member at @burnbootcampcincyhydeparkoh for 4 years now, and this year I set a goal to hit 250 camps in 2025. Knocked it out with a few days to spare! Thankful for this place and the people who make showing up easier 💙
