Was a quote from the humble, creative and legendary @jacobcollier today while he played a chord at his outstanding masterclass. Jacob made us sing, laugh, ponder, and the audience was occasionally left teary eyed as his words and choral direction filled the space with a loving beauty, and an appreciation for a shared humanity. Photographer Jonathan Inglis has spent 3 years documenting Cape Town’s jazz scene and social worlds, collaborating with local illustrators to reveal the magic in everyday life. 📸🌟

For this exhibition Jojo is focusing on some of his most meaningful collaborations with visual artists such as @shpoenki.art, @artistikiddo, @ricky_davinci and more.

Join us for the opening night next Friday night @obzbooks, where you will be able to purchase prints, posters and stickers, and speak to the artists exhibiting over a glass of wine!🍷

The reviews are in! They’re saying Femmephonic is ‘To Love’ a ‘Dirty Spirit’ ‘Just Right’ in a ‘Room Full of Human Male Politicians’…and if that’s lost on you I guess you just had to be there.

Many thanks to our incredible lineup of musicians so brilliantly repping this first foray of ours into live music taking the ‘open mic’ label to more familiar territory. If you missed out on this event, keep your eyes peeled in the coming months for something very similar…

We’ll be back to regular film related business two weeks from now at @the_commons_muizenberg for a special block curated and hosted by @cheeseboy_alumni!

As I wrap up these prints and take them off the walls of @novel_wine_bar, ready for their next location, I’d like to reflect on the very special experience that was my first solo exhibition…

The night began with a frantic but determined duo madly unwrapping, hanging, and positioning prints. Me and @songofaeryn were literally pulling nails out of walls and hammering them into new ones while people began to arrive. By the time doors officially opened though, we could put down our building tools and sticky tape, and pick up glasses of wine.

Then the amazing @umuthiomkhulu_ensemble kicked off the their show, and struck with crowd with their power of song. I’m so honoured to have collaborated with such legendary musicians for this day🙌!

I have loved my work, and have loved all the people over the past 3 years who have helped me create it.
To be able to share it on the day of my 22nd birthday in physical form was a huge blessing.
I never thought I’d be a photographer, but the musicians of this city have showed me that there is no other way I could have existed alongside them.

Thank you to everyone who came to support that evening, it meant the world! Grateful to @novel_wine_bar for such a special venue, @umuthiomkhulu_ensemble for your magic offering and being the perfect soundtrack to the images, and most of all to @songofaeryn for holding me together through it all - couldn’t have done it without you.❤️

EXHIBIT#1 💛

What a journey. What a night.

Putting this show together was far from easy. From narration and production to scripting, rehearsals, staging and everything behind the scenes, it took a village to bring this vision to life.

To my colleagues, friends, the @langa_ensemble team, media team, collaborators and everyone who came to witness it, thank you for believing in this work and showing up for us. ❤️

A special thank you to @16onlerotholi for giving us a home for this experience, and @bridges.academy @bridgesformusic for your continued support, partnership and for powering this journey with us.

And thank you to @jojosph0tos @jojo_inglis_ for beautifully capturing these moments. 📸

@operation.khataza ROCKED @thepinkroom_cpt last week Thursday, with a deeply memorable gig for the release of their long awaited new single, “Azania”🙌🌍

As always the 8-part band gave an electric performance with a powerful message, which got people head-banging and contemplating at the same time! taken in Gorgeous George by @jojosph0tos

Last Thursday @ashe_band put on a transportive performance @thepinkroom_cpt , when opening for @operation.khataza 🙌
Their music evokes the imagery of desert cities and Arabian bazaar nights for me, especially when @songofaeryn joined them in the middle of their set, adding her powerful vocals to their sound🌟 taken in Gorgeous George by @jojosph0tos

Last night at @springbok.arms watching a mix of films about complicated families and thrilling musical pieces! Thank you to all of the filmmakers, audience members and to Springbok Arms for hosting us.
