A whole entire year around the sun with @funkmode ❤️🤍🖤If I’m being completely honest, last year when I was in college, I was in a really dark place. I was fresh out of college, dealing with that heavy, suffocating cloud of pre and post-grad depression and anxiety. The future felt like one giant, terrifying question mark. I had just found out I didn’t get a fellowship I had really hoped for, and on top of that, a fellowship that felt so right to me slipped through my fingers. I felt lost, stuck, and incredibly rejected.In the midst of all that uncertainty, I decided to do something that absolutely terrified me: I signed up for a dance class.Walking through those doors, fresh out of being an undergrad, I didn’t know what to expect. But looking back now? I see exactly what I needed to see. It wasn’t just about finding a studio; it was about finding a community. A place where we can completely fool around, laugh until our stomachs hurt, and dance with absolutely zero judgment and Mighty along with so many others made me feel welcome to all of it. Through moving my body and letting go of perfection, I ended up learning so much about myself and what I’m truly capable of.I conquered a major fear, and it changed everything for me.To my incredible dance instructors and every single beautiful soul I’ve met along the way: thank you. Thank you for making me feel so incredibly welcome, so supported, and so seen from day one. You have no idea how much you helped heal the version of me from a year ago.And as the iconic @jlo once said... POV: your cousin just married his high school sweetheart and now you suddenly believe in love all over again 😭🤍✨This past week was truly one for the books. 🚨 HOLD UP. Stop what you’re doing because the UK garage queens themselves, Mis-Teeq, are actually reuniting for a show?! 😭🙌🏾 I had to make this video in honor of the absolute blueprint.Real talk though… I’ve only been in the loop for a couple of years now because let’s be honest, I was literally 2 years old when they first started dropping hits! still trying to find the words for this one… but WOW.had the absolute honor of dancing with @heybenallen at his annual Bay Area GROOV3 event at the JCCSF (something I did before) and I’m honestly still in awe 🤯✨I’ve been rocking with his classes since the Apple Fitness+ days, learning, sweating, and growing through every combo… so to finally share the same space, same energy, same FLOOR?! unreal. full circle doesn’t even begin to cover it.every time I’ve danced with him in the Bay, it’s been a vibe—but THIS day? different. special. unforgettable. the kind of moment you wish you could hit replay on over and over again 🎶🔥I’d relive this day a million times if I could.until next time… because trust, I’ll be back for the next one#GROOV3 #benallen by @jojuanjohnson
