Just finished a 4 day ‘Illuminating Earth’ sculptural lamp workshop @mendocinoartcenter. It was such a pleasure absorbing everyone’s openness, curiosity, and risk taking. Everyone came in with so much creativity from mixed media backgrounds, painting, topographic map systems, and fashion design! The 4 days was filled with great conversations and ideas and it even shows in their forms. You can see all three lamp forms are speaking to each other 🤗 while everyone’s hands were getting into clay I got my hands back on my camera capturing candid moments of everyone in moments of focus. Thank you @sanguinecadence for coordinating and @bonkered_sakshad @fl.our.pots for hopping into the group shot and bringing in the vibes 🫧🫶 by @joko_ohno

New sculpture made @macpherson.ceramics ‘Abstracting Memory’ Workshop. We were required to bring an object or photo that holds a specific memory to explore. In the start of 2020 during the first pandemic lockdown I experienced permanent unilateral hearing loss on my left ear. This piece is an exploration of the cochlea inner ear anatomy, flipping it sideways, and mirroring it like a rorschach print. I wanted to show this cochlea standing strong like a talisman and recognizing that despite loosing my sense of hearing my body was protecting itself. Thank you Bianca 🫶 for such an impactful workshop and encouraging us to sink deeper. by @joko_ohno

A Huge Thank You @sharonartstudio for hosting my 6 week long ‘Whimsical Vases’ Workshop! 😊 The group came in with an open mind, learning and experimenting with clay in a new way. Here’s a glimpse from the first three sessions building out this sculpture. It’s been fun altering the surface from carving, warping, and adding bulk to enhance the dimensionality of the spiral. This piece has been very challenging, hard, exhausting, and fun to build out. Can’t wait to show the finished form. by @joko_ohno
