I didn't grow up knowing how to build a business. No family money, no roadmap, no one showing me the way. I started with nothing but a laptop, a vision, and a decision that my story was going to look different from here on out.

I was tired of watching everyone else live the life I knew I was capable of. So I stopped waiting for the "perfect moment" and just started learning the skills, figuring it out as I went.

You don't need it all figured out from the get go. You need one decision to start.

I didn't realize one decision could shift everything, but it did. It gave me something to wake up for. My purpose. My hope. And it made the life I used to just dream about start to feel within reach, because that business was step one.

If you're reading this. I want you with me on this journey. No gatekeeping, ever. Every woman deserves to build her own independence. Nobody should have to stay in a toxic relationship or a toxic job because they feel financially stuck. I lived that, and it almost cost me everything. Your freedom is worth fighting for.

I spent years working long hours as an underpaid hairdresser, exhausted and wondering if this was really what life was supposed to look like.

Then I discovered the digital space and realised there were skills I could learn from home that could open completely different doors for me.

Here’s one simple way you can start exploring it too. ↓

Step 1: Open Claude. It’s free. Type this prompt:
“help me outline a 10-15 page guide about [your topic] for [your audience]. give me a chapter structure with a one sentence description for each section.”

Step 2: Write it. Use this prompt for each section:
“write a short conversational section on [subtopic]. simple language. one real example. under 250 words.”
Rewrite it in your own voice.

Step 3: Name it. Use this prompt:
“give me 10 names for a guide about [topic] for [audience]. mix descriptive with punchy. avoid clichés.”
Pick one. Don’t overthink it.

Step 4: Open Canva. Search “ebook template.” Pick one.
Paste your content. Change the colours. Export as PDF.

Step 5: Upload it to Beacons or Fanbasis. Set the price at $27. Use this prompt:
“write a 4 sentence sales description for a product called [name] for [audience] that teaches [outcome]. conversational and trustworthy. not hype-y!”

And you’re live.

Or skip the effort of trying to figure this whole digital world out on your own.

The scariest thought wasn’t starting over.

It was realising I could wake up five years from now and still feel exactly the same.

Still exhausted. Still giving the best hours of my day to a life that was draining me. Still telling myself, “maybe one day,” while quietly knowing I wanted more.

For a long time, staying felt safer than changing.

Until I realised staying was a decision too.

You don’t need to have your whole life figured out today. You don’t need some perfect plan. But if the thought of nothing changing for the next five years makes your stomach drop, please don’t ignore that feeling.

Sometimes the first step isn’t knowing exactly where you’re going.
It’s finally admitting you don’t want to stay where you are. 🤍

For years, I thought being busy meant I was doing life right.

Wake up. Rush. Work. Come home exhausted. Try to squeeze a little bit of life into whatever energy was left... then do it all again tomorrow.

And somewhere along the way, I stopped wanting a life that looked impressive because I was always “working hard.”

I started wanting a life that actually felt good to live.

Slow mornings without an alarm screaming at me.

Coffee without checking the time.

More days outside. More time with the people I love. More freedom to decide what my day looks like.

A home surrounded by land. Horses. Animals. A little library. Peace.

I still have big dreams. I still want to work hard for them.

I just don’t believe exhaustion should be the price of having them anymore.

Maybe success isn’t about fitting more into your life.

Maybe it’s about building a life where you finally have room to actually live it.

And if that’s the kind of life you’re quietly dreaming about too...

I don’t think most of us hate working.

I think we hate feeling like work gets the best parts of us.

The best hours of the day.
Our energy.
Our patience.
Our time.

Then we get home with whatever is left and somehow have to fit our actual life into the evenings and weekends.

The people we love. The things we enjoy. Taking care of ourselves. Travelling. Resting. Dreaming. Just... living.

And before you know it, you’re saying things like:

“I’ll do it this weekend.”
“Maybe next year.”
“When work calms down.”
“When I have more time.”

But the years keep moving.

I’m not afraid of hard work. I’ll work incredibly hard for a life I believe in.

I just don’t want to spend my whole life working so much that I forget to actually live it.

If you feel this too, I think you’ve found your people here. 🤍 by @jolene.builds

Sometimes “I’m doing great” is just easier.

Because how do you explain that you’re tired in a way sleep can’t fix?

That your mind has been loud lately.
That you’ve been carrying things you haven’t told anyone.
That you can laugh, work, show up, answer messages… and still feel like there’s a storm happening somewhere inside you.

So you say, “I’m fine.”
But you don’t always have to be the strong one.

Talk to someone. Cry if you need to. Pray about it. Write it down. Say the thing you’ve been swallowing because you’re scared of being “too much.”

You were never meant to carry everything silently.

And please remember, a hard season is still just a season. 🤍
What hurts right now won’t always hurt this loudly.

There is still life on the other side of this.
Still laughter you haven’t laughed yet.
Still mornings that will feel lighter.

You don’t have to have it all figured out today.
Just don’t suffer in silence. 🤍

If you could use a little motivation, you're at the right place, right here in my corner. @jolene.builds by @jolene.builds

Because your brain doesn’t always choose what makes you happy. It often chooses what feels familiar.

That job you complain about? You know the hours. You know the paycheck. You know the routine. You know exactly what Monday morning is going to look like.

You might be unhappy, but at least you know what to expect.

Starting something new means stepping into the unknown.

“What if I’m not good at it?”
“What if I fail?”
“What if I waste my time?”
“What if I’m not cut out for this?”

So staying feels safer.
But here’s what I wish more women realised:

You don’t have to choose between staying stuck forever and quitting your job tomorrow.

Keep your paycheck. Keep your security. And start building another option alongside it.

Learn one skill. Use some of those hours you already spend scrolling at night. Give yourself permission to be a beginner.

You don’t need to feel fearless before you change something.

Sometimes you just need to make your first move while you’re still scared.

And if you have no idea what that first move could be, click the 🔗link in my bio or DM me “MOVE” and I’ll send you my F.R.E.E Beginner’s Guide with 4 simple steps to start exploring what you could build online alongside your 9–5. 🤍 by @jolene.builds

Read this before you convince yourself you’re stuck.

You do NOT need to know what you want to do for the rest of your life.
You just need to stop assuming the job you hate is your only option.
Start smaller.

What interests you? What are you naturally good at? Do you like creating, writing, selling, organising, helping people, making videos, designing?
Then look at skills you can learn online that match YOU.

Digital marketing. Affiliate marketing. UGC. Email marketing. Content creation. Faceless marketing. There are so many ways to start building something online without knowing everything on day one.
And no, I’m not telling you to quit your job. Keep your paycheck.

But if you have a phone, WiFi and even 2–3 hours you’re currently losing to scrolling or Netflix, you have somewhere to begin.
Use some of that time to learn a skill you can do remotely, practice it, and start exploring what you could build from anywhere.

You don’t need your whole escape plan today.
You need your first step.

If you’re sitting there thinking, “Okay… but WHAT do I actually do first?”

I made my FREE Beginner’s Guide for exactly that.
It breaks down digital marketing and gives you 4 simple steps to start exploring what you could build alongside your 9–5.
