At the start of 2025, I felt as though I was in a constant yet relatively passive state of anxiety and depression. I felt powerless in my life. I craved a clean slate and big changes and halfway through the year came the uprooting. I moved out of NYC (though not too too far) to the small town my family lives in. I was scared, I couldn’t imagine my life outside of the city, outside of my dear friends there, back with difficult family dynamics I had long abandoned hope with, and close to where I grew up and felt constantly stifled. It would have been impossible for me to guess the ways I have blossomed here. I reconnected with the large expanses of nature around me, I felt myself get into a rhythm, I have become in tune with myself in a way that is totally new to me. I have met and befriended my many neighbors. I started working at a fast food place in a suburban plaza and, even there, in the parking lot or while I work, I can see beauty every day. There is not much more I can wish for than that, to see beauty every day. My eyes feel fresh and squeaky-clean and I am excited for what 2026 will bring 🌷 by @jollyscallop

Hi all! As you know, the fires in Los Angeles have been devastating, with an insane amount of structural damage. So many people have lost their homes and the pain and loss that comes with that is immeasurable. My friend’s family friend has lost his home, which was housing 3 generations of his family for the last 25 years, along with all of their belongings. If you have the means, please consider donating and sharing. If you can only share, please do that as well.
