On June 1st, 1950, trailblazing Senator Margaret Chase Smith (R-ME) was the first senator to publicly rebuke Senator Joseph McCarthy, (R-WI) who rose to power using anti-Communist hysteria, mendacity, and fear-mongering, ruining the lives of many who opposed him.

It’s an honor and blessing to play Senator Margaret Chase Smith, as she challenges Sen. Joe McCarthy during the Red Scare in the ’50’s.
Directed by I.C.T. Artistic Director Caryn Desai, and co-starring Jon Root as Sen. Joe McCarthy, Dylan Wittrock as William C. Lewis, Jr., and Hollis Dohr as Jean Kerr, this show is a JOY.
THANK YOU, Caryn, playwright Joe DiPietro, family, friends, and
Casting Directors Michael Donovan and Richie Ferris for this extraordinary experience.

We have such an absolutely incredible new Whisper in the Wings from Stage Whisper to share with you. On our program, we welcomed on the actors Sharon Gardner and Jon Root who are starring in the political thriller Conscience. This brilliant work features two iconic historical figures from American Politics at the height of the Red Scare, as they face off about how and why the federal government conducted itself in a Post World War II America. So be sure that you hit play and get your tickets before they are gone! @jaymichaelsglobal #stagewhisperpod #asheardonstagewhisper #conscience #internationalcitytheatre #Indietheatre supportartists supportfriends summer2026

4 years ago today was Day 1 on @paradise_the_movie .
My first time directing a musical comedy, and somehow we ended up laughing our way through just about every setup.
Couldn’t have asked for a better group to do it with. A talented cast that brought heart, weirdness, and absolute commitment to every beat. A crew that moved fast, stayed sharp, and never blinked -- even when the clock (and budget) were working against us. And an AD team that pulled off the impossible more times than I can count.

And as always, @barrattwill behind the camera -- steady, inventive, and ready for anything -- making my job feel a lot less like work and a lot more like play. what a great experience.
