Day 18 of my 365 daily goal post. [Archived photos from September 2nd, 2019] It was my first time in the Rockies and seeing mountains like this, and you can tell by the ecstatic look on our faces how happy we were to take in that view from the mountain top. Also any photos of me were taken by the talented photographer @lissettesanfAnd for anything interesting, these were shot with an Olympus EM-5 Mark II and a Laowa 7.5mm f/2. It's a remarkable portable pairing for hikes. by @jonafoto

After more than a decade of not seeing my friend residing in Mexico, they took me to see the agave fields to sample Tequila straight from the source; no lime or salt needed. 📸 Credit to @a_villawolf by @jonafoto

The kind of photos you take guaranteed to give your family a heart attack. 😅 This is a throwback to 2021 when the Fagradalsfjall 🌋 in southwest Iceland was erupting, it's actually erupting again as we speak and I'd love to go see it again. Standing this close to the lava it feels like standing infront of an open brick oven, but the warmth was a welcome reprive from the excruciatingly cold spring weather.Photo credit to photographer extraordinaire: @lightsunshinephoto by @jonafoto

For this particular set I kind've wanted to focus on the interesting textures, shapes and placements of plants and trees. I remember stopping constantly during the hike because something of the sort stood out to me.May 6th, 2019. Big Basin Redwood State Park, California. by @jonafoto

Hope everyone is having a happy weekend! But if by chance you're not or stuck in a negative news cycle doomscroll, then I hope these photos of relaxing trails through the Redwoods and some studio ghibli music will help reset your algorithm; if at least for a moment.May 6th, 2018.Big Basin Redwood State Park, California.#nature #trails #hiking #outdoors #tranquility by @jonafoto

While exploring the park I found the charred remains of a massive redwood. It seems like it burnt from the inside out because it left a massive vacancy inside that you could literally walk into. While looking up I noticed the light streaming in through holes in the trunk and you could see healthy younger Redwoods looming beyond it.It felt like a gentle reminder that life goes on, even when it seems like the world is burning down around us. Life endures, we'll endure.I added a 2nd b&w edit so you could appreciate the rich textures from inside the tree. 🖤🤍May 6th, 2018. May 6th, 2018. Big Basin Redwood State Park, California. One of my absolute favorite subjects to capture in photography are paths & trails, especially the ones least taken. (Homage to a Robert Frost poem for my literary nerds out there.) Another thing I love photographing are the little details that often get lost in the grander scheme of things. And when you're standing among colossal giant Redwoods that are older than nations, it's easy to overlook a little sapling growing between the roots of its older sibling.#redwoods #california #statepark #nature #hiking by @jonafoto

May 8th, 2018. Big Basin Redwood State Park. This might be a strange thing to say, but I can count on both hands (maybe one) the happiest moments in my life. But not just regular contentment, I mean dopamine rushing through your mind and soul in a way that stays engraved in your memory. This hike was one of those moments for me. While on a work trip in California I decided to scratch off one of the oldest items on my bucket list; to see a Redwood tree. It was my first time seeing Redwoods in person, I've wanted to see them since I was in the 1st grade (I'm not exaggerating). The first part of the hike was crowded with park visitors, and I couldn't really enjoy myself with all the commotion there, so I just kept hiking further in, losing track of time altogether until I realized I was all alone on the trail. I passed a wooden sign surrounded by clovers, marking the entrance to a redwood grove, and that's when I noticed the serene silence. Standing in that silence among those old sentinel trees is something I have a hard time putting into words, but it's a memory I'll hold onto fondly for the rest of my life. You could feel the sheer weight of hundreds of years of lived experience and wisdom surrounding you in that glenn.Just now as I'm typing I just randomly remembered my grandma and her patio full of plants. I'd often catch her talking to them, she said it was good for them. I'm starting to think that when I was in that forest grove the trees were talking to me, and it was good for me.If you've made it this far, thank you for listening to my story about this memory. by @jonafoto
