Warning!!! Long post!
This weekend I was able to secure a decision victory over @governorofgrappling at @orbitsubmissionseries . Before the match I was pretty nervous about how I was gonna do and trying not to look like a fool who doesn’t know what they are doing. As I do before almost every match and or fight Ive had. I’ve always placed high expectations on myself and would carry so much weight going into these types of things which sometimes would cause me to underperform and do awful or get submitted very quick. And it would wreck me. But the moments before the match with Jordan, just conversing, settled me down some but I was now worried about not making the match exciting or worth it to the fans and Jordan. But as soon as I was walking to the mat Sutton gave me a thumbs up from the crowd and that really helped me relax and know I can do it. Jordan said it pretty good that not dwelling on results or legacies helps. And while I do agree with that, I also want my legacy to be somebody who was an entertainer and always showed up and put on a show. And that’s usually where my anxiety about competing comes from, Also i heard Sutton during the match saying don’t do that to my daddy lol. When I was in the armbar I wanted to tap, in fact I’ve tapped to that same armbar plenty of times. But the same thought of Sutton seeing me tap and lose like that helped will me and power me through. If anything can be taken away from this I hope it’s that my daughters will never give up! Thank you to @jonahnassifbjj and his staff and crew for setting up the match and once again giving us a platform to perform! taken in Corridor Courts by @jonahnassifbjj
