As 2025 has been my first full active year of taking competing in jiu jitsu I just wanted to make an end of year post showing some gratitude and love to the teams I have around me. Incredibly blessed to have the support from some great coaches @bstmmaacademy and @10th_planet_banbury looking over me and helping me develop my game along with some very high level training partners. If it wasn’t for the people around me I wouldn’t be nearly as successful this year as I have been. One of the biggest mistakes I’m seeing across all jiu jitsu right now…People using a day before weigh in strategy…For a same day weigh in.They’re not the same.Not even close.With my client Jonathan, we had 8 weeks’ notice for this match.So instead of crash dieting the week of the event…We made sure he was within 4% of the weight limit before comp week even started.That meant one thing.We could manipulate body weight…Instead of trying to lose body fat at the last minute.Food stayed high.Training stayed productive.Recovery stayed high.And when competition day arrived…Making weight was just another box to tick.Weight cuts aren’t one size fits all.The sooner you stop copying what someone did for a day before weigh in…And start planning for the competition you’re actually doing…The better you’ll perform.Keep that in mind.Oooos by @jonathan.lewis48

Had a blast the other week competing on the @grapple_house_invitationals quintet tournament representing team @raineclothinguk 🫡Was an honour to be on such a great team with some great competitors 🙏🏻I had some great rematches - Me and my mate @robbie_ferguson172 had another guard play/footsie battle, 2nd round a great back and forth rematch with @bobby_4_fingers who put me in air jail 🤣. And in the finals I got a bit too excited with a K-guard entry and paid the price 😅.
