▉ HELP Venezuela after twin earthquakes caused widespread destruction!

● Two powerful earthquakes rocked Venezuela within seconds of each other on Wednesday. The second quake was one of the strongest tremors to hit the country in a century, at a magnitude of 7.5.

The death toll from the Venezuela earthquakes has risen to 900 and the number of injured is in the thousands. Both earthquakes shook the country at about 18:04 local time on Wednesday.

The first was magnitude 7.2 and struck the state of Yaracuy to the west of Caracas at a depth of 22km. Less than a minute later, a stronger magnitude 7.5 earthquake struck nearby at a depth of about 10km.

While both epicentres were outside the capital, powerful tremors were felt across the city - causing buildings to shake and some to collapse entirely.

It is likely that the death toll will climb further as rescue efforts continue.

There are currently thousands of citizens, authorities and foreign rescue teams participating
in different areas that got affected by the earthquakes.

Please swipe right to find out how you can help the different initiatives that need funding for continuing and expanding the rescue missions.

Solidarity is needed more than ever, stand with Venezuelans in this very difficult moment!

We put together this link in which you can find different ways to help people in need: general rescue efforts, funds for menstrual care supplies, animal rescue, help for LGBTQIA+ / Queer Communities and other initiatives.

● The Organization of Solidarity of the Peoples of Africa, Asia and Latin America (OSPAAAL) was founded in Havana during the 1966 Tricontinental Conference with the purpose of supporting and coordinating revolutionary struggles at a global scale.

The Tricontinental Conference brought together representatives of 82 Latin American, African, and Asian countries, comprising mainly leaders of political organisations and revolutionary movements, but also some heads of state, to discuss a collective political platform.

The production of cultural materials was particularly intense between the late 1960s and early 1970s, which is the period when national liberation movements reached their peak. During those years, the Information and Propaganda Department of OSPAAAL was led by Alfredo Rostgaard, who embraced an avant-garde aesthetic and developed innovative composition techniques.

The OSPAAAL materials centred on providing support for revolutionary, anti-imperialist and anti–colonial struggles that were being conducted in the Global South. To sustain the perspective of inevitable victory against a common enemy, the artists resorted to various strategies such as portraying leaders of different political movements similarly and using the same symbols of oppression and resistance to represent diverse struggles. Among these symbols, weapons were particularly important, as they made it possible to establish links between past and present struggles, and to distinguish between legitimate and illegitimate forms of violence, depending on whether they were used by revolutionary struggles on the one hand, or by imperialist or colonial powers on the other. taken in Worldwide by @jonathan_sirit
