One of my favorite camera builds of 2022— Switching from tripod mode to Steadicam in 80 seconds - 1/27/22

This was on the set of “Et Tu,” a feature film I was 1st AC for in January. Because of the super fast-paced shooting schedule, it required us switching the camera back and forth between sticks-mode and Steadicam-mode throughout the day. DP @jsouzafilms and I developed a super efficient system during prep week, allowing us to make the switch in around a minute. We attached non-essential accessories to the Amira’s top handle and simply had to unplug everything and remove the handle in order to ready it for Steadicam. We had a Cam-Jam adapter on the fluid head, which allowed us to keep the Steadicam dovetail permanently attached to the camera and avoid the need to constantly swap out plates. Once the camera was on, only minor balancing adjustments were needed, depending on which Master Prime we were using.

Huge thanks to producer @tyfriesen, director @maxtzannes, and DP @jsouzafilms for having me on this awesome project, and to @jacobsterle for being a killer 2nd AC. 🙌🏼
