Always a good day making films for local businesses that are still doing things properly — handmaking everything out the back of the shop.

The brief for this one was simple: “Make us a film for our website.”
Perfect. Open briefs are always fun.

The budget was tight, so i shot everything in a single day. The plan was to capture as much as possible in the water at sunrise, then head back to film the cutting, sewing & gluing process in the workshop. I added a few drone clips I’d shot previously, layered in manager Sarah’s voiceover, and this is where we landed 🤝

We decided to celebrate Warrens film being selected for the Aotearoa surf film festival by grabbing a beer before the Christchurch screening last week. I sat down with my hazy and Waza said ‘West coast tomorrow, be at mine at 4am’

and that was that, set the alarm for 3 and was in Greymouth for sunrise. We saw some wild waves roll through untouched and drank some questionable coast coffee but all in all it was another great trip. taken in West Coast Region by @jonathansmitnz
