I had such a wholesome, lovely day recording and filming episodes 1, 2 and 3 (managing four cameras and the audio 🫪). Today is the day! The 35-minute documentary about making “The War Between the Land and the Sea” that I directed, produced, and filmed with @brightbranchmedia is out now! I’ve never let anything fill my brain as completely as I did this, and I’m really proud of the result. Link in bio!

Enormous thanks to @jopearcewales and @lucyw000 at @brightbranchmedia for supporting my ambition for this project and always believing in me!

As always it’s a team effort, so massive props also to the rest of the team, especially @lloyd_hughesss the editor, for pulling together the whole story so brilliantly, finding all of the humanity and humour, and to @luke_j_baker and Jo for then managing to wrangle all that down into just half an hour; @alexandrahfrancis for coming in at crunch time to save the day with her negotiating and scheduling prowess (and being the best stand-in you could ask for); @georgieoboy for smashing the graphics as always; and @catchingalice for managing a LOT of media and liaising.

Thanks also to @russelltdavies63 and @petemctighe for their constant support, commitment and championing; @calliebryan, @lukespillane, @conzuh and @vhamilton813 at @bbcstudios for always being open to my ideas and as excited as I was about the project; @debsberry for the company on set; and @jamespardonphoto, @alistairheap, and @samueldoreunitstills for sharing the space so collaboratively. I shot @varadasethu and @ncutigatwa for this fun ‘crossover’ trailer, made as part of the launch for Doctor Who Season 2 earlier this year. It was a new kind of challenge for me - approximating lensing, distances and lighting to try and match the cast into five existing shots from various BBC shows. I’ll let you work out which one of the six scenes in the trailer I didn’t shoot!

@alexandrahfrancis, @lloyd_hughesss and I did a lot of testing beforehand, and on the day we managed the five green screen setups in under 90 minutes with our very streamlined crew 😮‍💨

“Doctor Who: Unleashed” is back for its second series! I’m really pleased with how this setup from episode 1 came together. All the production lighting had been stripped out by the time we came to film in here, so I lit the people and the space, but tbf it’s hard to go wrong when you’re shooting on a set that looks this good! taken in Wolf Studios Wales by @jonathonaiken
