Happy Fall to those that celebrate (me)

Honestly, it was pretty cool to look back at what I’ve done this year! I’m really happy with my artistic direction and just the general direction of my business. Manifesting more growth for next year, while recognizing the progress I’ve made and appreciating everyone that has supported me and helped me along the way.

The biggest takeaway from this video is that there really are no rules to weddings and anyone that’s trying to convince you otherwise in my opinion is wrong. A wedding is a unique celebration between you and your partner and it should feel just that way. Unique.

The event that you are creating should not stress you out to the point where you aren’t enjoying yourself or that you’re being pulled out of the moment.

I think one of the easiest changes you can make to a wedding timeline or wedding plans is just not doing certain things. If you’ve been to a wedding before your own, you don’t necessarily need to do everything that they did or replace something that they did with another thing. You can just do whatever you want to do… include new things exclude things that they did. In the end, it’s totally up to you and your partner and I think it’s important to not let outside voices influence your plans to the point where you’re doing things that you don’t want to do just because someone said you probably should.

This one is for my foodies out there! Obviously you don’t have to go absolutely 120% balls to the walls on like 10 different food trucks or stations or whatever but a nice little sampling of a handful of culinary options could make your wedding reception feel truly unique!

No need for tons of tables with a seating chart, no need to make sure you have a plate for all 100, 200 sometimes 300+ guests. Everyone can grab whatever they’re feeling and go find that person they haven’t seen in awhile!

With this setup, there’s still room for toasts, games, even some dancing if you still want a little bit of that vibe.

Again, I’m just trying to offer ideas to get you inspired! Your wedding can be whatever you envision! There’s no “normal”!

If you and your family are competitive or active, I think having games of some kind could be a great way to keep engagement high throughout your entire reception.

Honestly, I think this idea is one of the easiest to implement and would also serve really well as a side event if you still want to have more of a traditional social gathering feeling.

I particularly love the betting aspect. Often times, your wedding guests will be giving you a gift anyways so this is kind of a cool way to make their generosity feel a little more intentional.

If the goal is engagement from your guests, giving them something to connect to can work really well! Any live band or performers have always been an absolute hit. Just recently I got to see a quick performance from @vincerossi and it got EVERYONE on the floor and and they STAYED!

How to end your wedding without a dance party EP. 1

There were a few things that I didn’t mention in the video that I wanted to bring up here.

I think the cocktail hour first ceremony second would allow for a really dramatic outfit change moment at the ceremony. It could be not just a surprise for you but your partner as well.

Finally, I think doing all of this upfront allows for a more flexible arrival window for your guests. I think there’s been at least one or two people late to every single wedding I have ever photographed which is honestly insane but seemingly inevitable at this point.

If presence is at the core of your wedding day, I strongly recommend keeping the amount of “must-have stand and smile” posed photos to a minimum. It is my job to NOT remove you from the moment and to prioritize your experience, but in order to complete this hypothetical list of must haves, your presence has to be taken away.
