This time last year I was waiting on my @soliela polka dot hoodie, my @linkt rebate and a prayer.

Given I hadn’t been back to Egypt since I was 7, amidst all the feelings of angst and such, I took baby steps as I prepared and embarked on my trip to the motherland. Om el Donia.

This video focusses mainly on my time back in Egypt; the return to a comfort, an understanding, a place to belong, but also not. It’s so layered.

@oliviadeano’s ‘The Art of Loving’ was released that same week. Naturally, tracks from the record quickly became the backing track to the trip. Some of the days overseas were stimulating to another degree, and taking baby steps was all that was needed.

One (good) day last year, my dear friend Aleese let me in on an idea she had: a dance piece, set to the outro of ‘Good Days’ by SZA. A vision she was eager to bring to life and she so graciously asked me to be a part of this project. A true honour! From the get — it was a labour of love. Her heart in everything was for a Good Day, and that was had!

And as the story goes, we shot ‘Good Days’ a year ago today and I post now in memory of that wonderful day, a project we are so proud of. Truly, the goodest of all good days. And the bestest of all teams. A bunch of kids away from their craft returning to what they love!

Aleese, I’m so proud of you and I love your mind. You are amazing and special! Here’s to more good days, and to finding the good in the days to come.
