I don't quite know what to say but... I've met Batman! @balletbat1989 aka Carl Newman elegantly embodied the Dark Knight and was integral to bringing the caped crusader to life in Batman 89 and here I am meeting him at Batman in concert on Sunday! Thank you Carl, you are a true gent and it was an absolute pleasure to meet you. You may see the ridiculously ecstatic 11 year old in me smiling through all that beard! Thanks again! 🦇

Batman Year 3, 1

Collects Batman #436-439

Writer: Marv Wolfman
Art: Pat Broderick

This story details the origin of the first Robin, Dick Grayson, like never before, through a unique framing device that finds the Dark Knight is reeling from the death of Jason Todd—the second Robin. In “Batman: Year Three,” fans learn how the famed Batman and Robin partnership began, and return to Dick Grayson’s early, tragic days as part of the family circus troupe the Flying Graysons.

Such a great underrated hidden gem that bridges key aspects of the Bat-Family, beautifully exploring Bruce’s trauma over the death of Jason Todd. I love how the main narrative uses flashbacks to retell Dick Grayson’s adoption by Bruce and his early days as well as a pivotal first appearance of Tim Drake. Defiantly essential reading to deep dive into that rich Robin lore.
