If you'd asked me 10 years ago what I thought I'd be doing, I don't think I would have ever imagined this 🖤 I love that I get to make these little moments special for everyone who stops by my table. Sometimes I feel like I haven't made any progress in my life and I have to take a step back and look at everything I've accomplished. There were days where the idea of talking to a stranger terrified me. There were days where the notion of performing in front of an audience sent me into a panic. People told me I that "selling poetry" wasn't a real job, and that I'd be wasting my time. There was a time in my life where I would have listened. I'm so glad I've grown and become the kind of person who takes risks like this. And I'm so grateful for the people who take that same risk and ask me if I can write them a poem. 😊

In 1959, Psychologist Milton Rokeach began a social psychology experiment involving three men: Clyde Benson, Joseph Cassel, and Leon Gabor. All three men suffered from the same strange delusion, each believing that they alone were the one true son of God. Milton was curious to see if, once forced to interact with each other, their delusions would change. Over time, the men instead rationalized the delusions of the others, finding complex reasons to explain the presence of two other supposed Christs. In the end, Rokeach concluded that the experiment cured no one, and only added layers to their beliefs. Today, The study is considered to have been highly unethical, due to Rokeach's manipulation of institutionalized patients and operating without proper consent.
