Ever grateful for all of the experiences the 2025 season has afforded me with the boys on the PGA tour and Korn Ferry Tour. Every year I have nothing but a great time with the players, my colleagues , and with learning a lot from each and every one of my co-workers and players. To be a part of the sports med team helping the players week to week to perform at their best, take some stress of them, and be there when we’re needed most to make a cut or finish high is something I will never take for granted. I’ll always value the relationships made. 2025 was a great year! On to 2026… by @jonnygolfdpt

What a great season. Words can’t express the gratitude I have for the opportunity to work the PGA tour, and for the first time this year, the Korn Ferry Tour (minor league pro golf tour). Being up close on the KFT and seeing the grit, diligence, hard work, mental toughness, and dedication these guys possess was priceless. Grinding out out the travel, playing 7 events in a row, barely sleeping in their own bed made it even better to see them when they reached their goals. I gained a new appreciation and learned a lot from the players this year. They are great players and even better people. Even more I learned a lot from colleagues I work with: PT’s, chiros, and ATC’s that are more skilled and polished than me in many ways. Personally and professionally. Being in an environment where people push you to be better and teach you is invaluable and something I love to be around. Even though I’ve struggled personally this year, I’m grateful to have had the opportunity in a work setting to improve and be better. Ready to get out in the fall season and onto next years adventures 🤙🏽 by @jonnygolfdpt

Posted @withregram • @golf_rehab_tips Proper foot health is key in building a solid base for the golf swing. A resilient arch is a key piece of proper foot health and performance. It can have a an effect on many aspects of the golf swing. I listed a few and gave a few examples of how to start improving your arch strength...

1️⃣ Big toe pressure with
Theraband cue

🔑 spread toes
🔑Drive big toe through theraband into the ground
🔑Screw the foot into the ground/externally rotate leg creating a solid arch
🔑Roll foot down flat until arch is flat on the ground
🔑Rinse and repeat x 20

2️⃣ Spreading toes and gripping the ground

🔑Spread the toes as wide apart as possible
🔑Grip the ground with all five toes keeping toes as far apart as possible

3️⃣Spread toes with aid of toe spreaders

🔑place on silicon toe spreaders to help space toes further apart
🔑Perform toe spread exercise x 30 reps
🔑 Wear if possible with footwear progressively more each day to spread

4️⃣ “Screw feet into the ground”

🔑Drive big toe into the ground
🔑 Grip the ground with all toes
🔑Externally rotate the legs while maintaining strong grip to the ground

With so much walking on the golf course it’s only a matter of time before Achilles tendinitis or plantar fasciitis make an appearance. These are some simple 🔑’s to keeping good foot mobility and avoiding these two painful injuries

Posted @withregram • @golf_rehab_tips Big 3 FOOT/ANKLE MOBILITY

1. Gastroc length: making sure you have appropriate calf length to not restrict ankle dorsiflexion.

2. Ankle joint dorsiflexion: Being able to clear the foot required appropriate dorsiflexion of the ankle. Without ankle DF, compensation occur all up the kinetic chain.

3. Big toe extension: With the plantar fascia attaching at the base of the metatarsals (toes), lack of big toe extension is usually a sign of shortened plantar fascia which leads to pain and tightness.

🌵Exercise 1: Half kneel posterior glide with superband/KB/towel:

🤙Place the superband as low as possible at the front of the ankle with as much tension as you can tolerate
🤙Place towel under big toe to create an extended position.
🤙If you have a step, elevate lead leg to get a 30-45 degree angle downward pull. If not no worries

🌵Exercise 2: Foam Roll with superband pull and ankle DF/PF pump

🤙Assume long sitting position keeping leg as straight as possible over the foam roll

🤙Bend and straighten (flex/extend) knee putting as much pressure as you can tolerate with the calf muscle over the foam roll

🤙 Lastly, when the leg is full extended pump the ankle back and forth while rolling over the foam roll at the same time.

“Mentoring is a brain to pick, an ear to listen, and a push in the right direction.” - John Crosby

I wanted to #givethanks to those who have mentored me throughout my career. After being a PT for almost 7 years now I’ve had the opportunity to work with PT/PTA students, prospective PT students, new graduates, colleagues, and others learning the profession. I have to say that it’s a lot of selfless hard work, energy, and time. It has made me appreciate those who spent time with me while I was in school and out of school.

Their selfless guidance has left me forever changed for the better. Most would hate the recognition but there are way too many to list so here are a few. Gina Harris during my PT tech days at Madison Memorial, @bobptatc and great examples of the Bountiful Sportsmed crew, @gschroed1 for mentoring me during the residency and giving me my first job, Josh Jensen guiding me through applying to school and getting in @kirij , @jonrhodespt for helping spark the golf/PT desire and light the way, @marcperry1022 Marc Wahl for taking his valuable time while on the PGA tour to show true interest in my growth as a PT in the pro golf setting, @hawkpt and his great example as a great PT business man and father, and so many other colleagues I’ve learned from that are great examples of PT’s, chiros, physicians, etc who have taught me. You all know who you are. So grateful and hope to have that same effect on those coming up in the profession. taken in Scottsdale, Arizona by @jonnygolfdpt

🌵I had a few DM’s of people asking me if I’ve ever used a @whatsthatstrap or a @physicalindustries strap after the last post. I have and both are great products that give great results. If you have the proper set up then go grab one. You won’t regret it. This is similar but not the same. The superband option is shown here in lieu of the official straps as a more accessible, cost effective, mobile, minimal equipment option that can add a little extra to warm-up, training, rehab, and performance when those straps aren’t as accessible.

1️⃣ Single Leg RDL:
wind up with pull pushing you into foot pronation
Maintain foot “screwed into ground”
Perform traditional single leg hinge
Maintain an upright position

2️⃣ Split Squat with Hard push off
Split stance position
Weight 80% front/20% back
At bottom of squat drive hard with front leg as hard as possible.
Think “push the ground away”

I’ve always held the philosophy that we should embrace numerous ways of viewing the human body and then deciding for ourselves if we can apply that philosophy to our practice. To me the anatomy trains perspective of viewing the body as different fascial meridians that forces are transmitted through is a different and unique way to view the human body. When we view the body differently we then change our training and rehabilitation to match that perspective. Listen, absorb, and learn from numerous viewpoints and create your own style and perspective. Here are a few superband exercises I like to use that focus on using these different fascial lines to direct training.

“Anatomy has been thorough explored in the previous 450 years. New discoveries and new therapeutic strategies will not come from finding new structures, but from looking at known structures in new ways.”

Posted @withregram • @golf_rehab_tips Superband Exercises to improve rotational sling power: Great for warm up before round, adding power to swing, reducing low back pain by resisting extension, improves dissociation, etc.

1️⃣ How to set up superband

2️⃣ Hinge pivot
-Perform normal hip hinge
-Rotate into resistance
-Load the glute 5 sec
-Feel glute light up

3️⃣ Split squat with trunk rotation:
- Set up in split stance
- Shift 80% of weight to front leg
- Keep pressure balanced thru foot
- Rotate into front leg
- Maintain stacked pelvis/trunk
- Resist pull of band into lumbar extension

4️⃣ Split squat:
- Set up in split stance
- Shift 80% of weight to front leg
- Keep pressure balanced thru foot
- Rotate into front leg
- Maintain stacked pelvis/trunk

🌵Quick option that works great if you are on your own, need something fast, need a little stability and compression, rolling the ankle over on your post leg during follow through, etc. Give it a go

Posted @withregram • @golf_rehab_tips Self tape series #5 - Lateral ankle pain (sprain) self tape
✅ Cut 4 pieces: 2 - 12”, 2 - 6”
✅ Dorsiflex (toes to nose) ankle as shown in video
✅ Start first long piece right above medial malleolus (big bump on inside of ankle)
✅ Place moderate tension and anchor over lateral side about halfway up lower leg
✅ Place second long piece over similar location as seen in vid
✅ Place final two shorter pieces around the back of the lower leg just above the malleoli with moderate tension
✅ Stand up and out weight on it and take a few practice swings
✅Adjust until it’s comfortable
